07 shift knob

I just bought a 07 cobalt and i can't find out how to get the shifter knob off.

ya i know sorry . normally i can get my stuff from the search but i couldn't find this... thanks

Thats a different stock then me n i don't have a reverse lock. theres no cap to pop off...

i would liike to know as well. i have an ss 2.4 with the ball looking shifter. i would like to switch that out for an ss/sc shifter with the lockout

I used a hack saw to get mine off so i could save the stock shifter boot when i put my short throw in because i couldn't figure out how to get it off =P
(i had an 07 LS shifter which is the same one you have i think)

ml2242 what you just cut off the knob and took it apart from there or where did you hack...? ( haha thats awesome btw)

You're not going to have any luck I'm afraid. First of all the SS/SC shifter is pressed on. I thought the 2.4 and 2.2 knob was screwed on. Either way I don't know how you're going to hold it on. Plus with the reverse lockout, it's just going to hang there, there's no way to make it functional. AFAIK, there's no plastic notch in the 2.4/2.2 tranny for it plus you don't have the metal piece that slides over it.
