12v Tap in Trunk

I am looking for a 12v source to tap into that is located in the trunk. A few months ago i wired up some interior neons with a 12v source i found in a "How-To" on here. I have some left over bulbs and figured I'd add some more light to our poorly lit trunks. Anyone know where I can tap into to wire 3 12inch bulbs?

Could tap into the trunk light i guess, but then that'd only be on when the trunk light is... would also wire right to the battery under the rug.

The battery is located in the trunk, just use that. Make sure you have a fuse though.

how would i go about wiring a fuse...i just figured it would be easier to tap into something and wiring a switch rather than wiring it to the battery. The trunk light is a 12v source?

yea thats how i wired my neons in trunk, just cut the wires going to the trunk light and use themso when you pop the trunk they come on and turn off when you close it.

A fuse would be a pretty good idea to be honest...

Battery(+)-----------[fuse]----------{neons}
Battery(-)-------------------------------------'

That little diagram might make it easier, but I'd throw in some kind of switch between the use and the neons (or whatever it is you are putting in there).

Good luck!

Size doesn't really matter too much, the values do. What're you going to be running on there? I use a 5amp 12v fast blow fuse to run all my LED's/Neon tubes and I've never popped one so I'd say you'd be pretty safe with a 5 amp if you are just doing some lighting.

Your current draw is going to be very low with LED bars, same with cold cathode lighting. So regular speaker wire should do you just fine.

Heres your diagram.

BATTERY+ to FUSE to SWITCH to LIGHTING BAR to BATTERY-
