9007 vs 9004

9007 vs 9004

what is the difference between these two bulbs? are they interchangeable?

there are guide grooves in the light themselves that will prevent them from being installed. these two shouldn't be interchangeable. if im not mistaken, the 9007 has 2 guides and the 9004 only has 1....or the other way around.....something like that

i bought hids and i recieved 9004s they both have 3 grooves and fit in the housing BUT i bought bixenon and dont want the bulbs to be upside down and have highbeams where the lowbeams are and the other way around

OE cobalt headlights are 9007, idk why u are looking at 9004

i know they are 9007 i ordered 9007 but recieved 9004 or atleast thats what it says on the bulbs on the balast it says 9004/9007

actually, the difference might be one is a multifilament for highs and lows and one is only lows.

they could have made them interchangable so they only had to make 1 bulb for two applications. see if it will fit and work right then if it doesnt then send it back.

The 9004 and 9007 bulbs differ because in the 9004 you have transverse filaments (horizontal) and the 9007 is axial (vertical).....the wiring pinouts are different as well and they should not fit in the same plug because they are keyed diffenently.......i would image you found out that 9004's have higher output on the import bulbs........DO NOT USE THESE.....they will melt your wiring and the housings are designed for the vertical filaments so you will get shitty light from a horizontal filament(9004)...Later
