About the dust cover inside panel

After several attempts of having the leaking speaker and dust cover area redone from the dealer, I finally managed to take out the door panel and now I see why. What a clusterf@#%, silicone here and there loose. Most definetly the worst thing GM has ever done to ruin the Cobalt reputation. I went redneck and use tape to cover the bottom portion only that it doesn't stick to the dust cover, wax obviously.

Any tape that would stick to that or what silicone is best? Likewise now that I can take the panels off, I can forget about the dealer warranty hassle and keep the car longer then expected. Also looking at slimmer 6 1/2"s with speaker covers to prevent any more leaking.
