As for the tail lights, did you spray a glossy clear coat afterwords? That would make them a little more reflective, but if you just did the VHT Nite Shades and nothing else and it looks kinda flat then that could be why they gave you a hard time.

There is nothing wrong with window tint here in illinois where i live. I got pulled over twice in 2 days from state pig and he gave me a ticket and i live in a little town of like 2000 people. I mean window tint should be your option and it should be a law that if u have it dark as hell then you just have to put ur hands out ur window when ur pulled over till the cop gets to you. I mean come on this country has no fn rights at all AMERICA IS NOT FREE! Window tint saves your interior and keeps your vehicle cooler inside and keeps idiots with there brights on behind you to not make it so u can look behind you.

**** cops who say its for "safety" bullshit they just want a reason to take money from you. I agree 100%. Once you lose a freedom you never get it back.

You are doing something illegal, you've been warned. I don't see the problem.

It's going to be 94 degrees today with high humidity and I'll be thanking the Big Man for window tint when I get into my car tonight. I spent one summer in this heat without tint and vowed never to do it again.

That said, if you have non-legal tint, I have zero sympathy for anything that the law does to you... It's a pretty simple law to follow and abiding by it doesn't inconvenience anyone, especially for those of you in states that allow front window tint to some degree.

Tint isn't illegal everywhere. Hell, even in Wisconsin it's legal to have your windows tinted. It's like 10% though, I think? Sounds like the cop was being an ass-hat. Don't they have equipment to check your tint levels? I thought they did. Did the pig just look at your car and say the tint was too dark? If he did, you can fight the charges.

No crap tint isn't illegal. But he is not within legal limits. Therefore he is illegal, like I said.

So, I have 25% window tint all the way around, minus the front windshield of course and I live in AL. Would I have to worry about this when traveling out of the state?

In general tint is rated by the amount of light it allows in but this is entirely dependent on how the manufacturer tests for this, so %x at two companies can be different. Mine are 20% all around. This is substantially darker than 35% but what I have installed still allows you to see into the vehicle (Ontario's law is "up to officer's discretion" more or less) so it can depend on what "brand" of tint they use as well.

It's confusing as hell so I always take it to the right spot since my friend got 20% on his SI and it looked like a solid wall of black...yep, he ripped that off .

I know first hand about all this. I had a police officer tell me the same thing. So I kindly replied under what charge and statue would the arrest fall under. He got pissed and said FOR NOT OBEYING THE ORDERS OF A POLICE OFFICER! I then stated that the constitution does not require us to obey the orders from a police officer if the orders are unconstitutional. He got so pissed he walked back to his car and started crap talking me in his car. I know this because I got a ticket and the idiot sent me the tap as evidence and it has the whole thing on it. I have had 6 window tint tickets and I have gotten out of them bye going to court and showing that the statue is for public safety and how is sunglasses any safer then window tint. I won all 6.
