Base Cobalt wheel upgrade

Hey guys I am wanting to get some new rims for my base cobalt, right now i am sitting on the base steelies and the crapy continental tires. My question is what do you guys thing, should i go with 16's or 17's on the wheels, and does anybody have any tire recomendations.

18s, you will get plenty of looks lol, 17s for all around performance/style, preferably lightweight. ive always been a fan of the g-force tires, they seem to be prety good. a little pricey though but why cheat your car on performance when you will be spending a lot on wheels in the first place (a lesson ive learned and am regretting lol, i need new tires! ahh!)

Depending on your price range, I'd go with 18's, if you have some cash to spend I'd get a set of lightweight 18's like the OZ Ultraleggera's from: www.tirerack.com They weigh only 16lbs or something like that but cost $300 each. And I agree with Wikky, the BFG G-forces rock, that's what I'm getting when I order my wheels.

I just put on my 17" enkei wheels with 215/45 tires, i love them, i was going to go for the 18" look but i def dont like the fact of potholes and i liked a better ride quality with bigger tires, i will be posting pics later this week, so if that helps look out for those this week!

I would go with a 17" wheel with a 215/45/17 or 225/45/17 tire...its a good mix of performance and looks depending on the weight of the wheel. Anything smaller would have to be extremely lightweight to justify it.

I agree totally. IonNinja do you have Rota Slipstream's ? I love them but the biggest they go is 17 i think.

yes I have Rota Slipstream...they are 17x7.5

just make note though that alot of Rota wheels larger than 16" aren't all that lightweight. My 17" Rotas weigh in at 20lbs. Lighter than most stock wheels but nothing to write home about. Of course I wanted a mix between the two without breaking the bank since this isn't exactly an all out performance car.

id go w/ 17's and lower it w/ sportlines. car looks funky w/ low profile tires and no lowering imo. also i can feel the road a lot more w/ 17s having crappy roads here in new england and what not. so if i ad 18's on my car i would hate it beiing so rough round here. but it all depends on your prefrence.

so go 17 or 18 at most. 17 if ur going for performance more or 18 if your going for show

I would go with 17" as well, save the money from going to 18" and put it into a lowering kit.
from 15" to 17" cost me $1000. Can't imagine it looks much different with 18", but 16" definately won't satisfy.

GM says not to go bigger than 18" and I'm inclined to agree. It would to tear up your tire and car if you hit a speed bump/curb too fast.

Personally go with 17's.

I have some chrome rims 17" (people here on the forums hate it, but I love em')

And get some good tires, probably 215/45, my Hankook tires just kick ass.

EDIT: If you go with a larger rim/tire setup, go to your dealership and get them to modifiy the speed gov. so it will accompendate for the lager rims and tire setup. You dont want to think you're going 20 when in reality you're going 30 with the tire/rims.

Axis Mods are nice, they are an evolution of the Mod se7ens, they are now a single piece, and arent pricey anymore (used to be $1800 for 4)...now they are $245 each!
