BlackLsCoupe's custom headlights build FINISHED
FINISHED

ok to start off, i already got the retro fits, redoing them my style. just got in 2 stock headlamps(unfortunaly UPS broke one), and i ordered a new retro fit kit since the ones i have curently have issues. now im looking into what color CCFL's i should get for my custom headlights. should i match the white thats comeing with the retros, or go amber if i can find them since what im doing is going to be the park lamps?
heres a picture to show you what im sorta doing, the pen is pointing to where this CCFL ring will go.

just got these in SMD LED 115mm rings, but somehow these are a bit small. still will work aparently the circle isnt a circle, go figure.

retros are in started mock up stage, heres what its looking like so far, and a 9v is used to demistrate the LED's

as of jan. 12 2013
i have molding the ring in painted the shrouds silver, gun metal was too dark. painted the headlight reflector and assembled that portion wired it in. no pictures cameras dead need to find batteries. working on wireing out day runing lights to the rings, as well as makeing them turn off when turnsignal is on. not shure if that will go thru. got a left headlight on the way should be tearing down next week, hope to have time this weekend to finish the passenger and temp install on car
feb 18
just got some warm days to paint, almost done with right side, took some light testing shots, on the car, with out the lens. just FYI left side is old, the right side is new.

feb 26
rright side complete, made shure it sealed up. and finished the wireing.

Feb 27
had internet problems, but i got the new wiring installed and RT side installed took some pictures like requsted. Left side ring is mounted and prepped for paint but got to wait for a warm day. FYI once again right side is new left side is the old worn out headlight

been too long but finaly got them finished off to wash the car and get some pictures.

was trying that idea, but cant find any in amber, just ordered a set of LED SMD rings which are brighter than CCFL's. couldnt trust the china CCFL's for bmw, since i didnt need a full circle. ill make these work
only problem i can see is your projectors out shining you ccfl's. Don't know if it's true or not just when i think about it thats what comes to mind. I am so tempted to try and build some retros but having no experience building them solo im kind of standoffish because i dont want to spend 300+ and them looking like ****

water leaks, and had a short last winter in the control module and i had no headlights for winter. took me 2 weeks to not get a part from buy hids, cause they didnt make that kit anymore. so i ended up hard wireing it all. all i have is low beams, no halos no high beams, it sucks people out here drive with there highbeams on like dumb asses and i cant flash them
Little pricey but Amber all the way to 140mm

subd for ideas later.. I'm makin my gurl a retro headlight set for christmas, an I'm still thinkin bout how I wanna do it.. I should praly get on it soon
How are you gonna do the LED ring on the turn signal? It's 2 big, wont it be bulgin into the side an look sloppy?
You dont wanna use halos as turn signals. They dont like to be flashed that much. Exact same principle as fluorescent bulbs. Use leds if you're gonna do that.
Being different is why I did the halos behind the e46 shroud.

ok does anyone know electrical, im thinking instead of blinking, im going to turn off the LED's on one side like the crysler's when the turnsignal is on. but how to do this is got me stumped. im thinking a relay thats on but when the turnsignals powered it turns it off, but how to do that idk. and help
I think it would have to follow along the concepts of the type 2 switchback LED's. I'm not sure what is really used in them, so it might be a relay. Hope that gives you a starting point.
