brembo decals?

I am looking into powder coating my calipers on my 08 ss/tc.... of course doing so will cover up the brembo logos. I have been looking at ebay for decals, but I also wanted to get some opinions here as well....

What is recommended for replacing the decals? Should I look into vinyls (not sure which size I need for the rear calipers) or stencils? What will hold up to the application? If anyone has done anything like this then I would really appreciate some input...

Thanks

Have you priced them as far as getting powder coated? I did and i could buy a brand new set because the pistons need to be take out and you need new seals and everything.

On the other hand to answer your question, the guy that was gonna do mine was going to paint the logo in white on mine!

I've been hearing that people have been having good luck with buying the decals off of Ebay. I think they are usually a bit smaller than the logo that's on there stock, but it looks okay. If you do a search on powdercoating calipers then you'll probably come across several examples of what other people did.

The rear calipers aren't by Brembo (just FYI), so if you put the logos on those too, it wouldn't be exactly accurate.

Yeah, taking the seals out and finding a good time for down-time for the car are two things that are keeping me from doing it right now.

One guy messed up his seals if I remember right, so maybe buying a set just in case would be a good thing to do in case you're trying to do it over the weekend and the parts place is closed.

Mkulrey13 painted his red with regular caliper paint. He took his time and preped them right. They look powdercoated. He got some vinyl brembo decals to put on them....

Yeah me too. The dealer said they would take them apart and everything and keep the car on a lift till i get them powder coated but the cost of having them replace the seals and everything is about 600-800 bucks for all 4 calipers. That includes having them painted!

ok... the seals are new..... didn't know that would be a problem...

The price for the powder coating will be $70.... I was going to go ahead and change out the brake lines while I am at it....

The powder coat guy is familiar with doing powder coat on these types of brakes. He was going to remove the pistons and such for me no problem....

Are people really having that big of an issue with powder coating them?

I thought there may be an issue with the decal size... I will probably leave mine unmarked...

The only issue with taking apart the brakes is that the dealer could void your warranty for them if later down the road if they **** up!

well I pretty much voided my warranty the second day I bought it... I already cashed in the rotor recall so I am good there.... On top of that I was going to change the brake lines so I would have voided the warranty anyway....

I am going to talk to the powder coat guy tomorrow just to make sure... but looking at the how to threads on the forum it doesn't seem that bad...

Any thoughts?????

I may do that... give me a few days to explore options...

Right now I am still figuring out what I want to do with the calipers... There seems to be issues with the seals if you take them apart. I haven't been able to get in touch with my powder coat guy to make sure that he has done brembos before. I am also exploring the option of painting them, but I really do not like the caliper paint colors I have seen. I want to do red - but not a 'victory red'.... instead I was looking for something deeper... I have also been exploring the option of doing a regular enamel over the caliper paint, but I am still not sure the enamel could hold up to the heat/abuse... Don't get me wrong - it isn't like I race my car so the brakes don't get that hot, but I don't think regular enamel could hold up to brake application....

I am going to talk to my paint guy tomorrow and see if I can get some insight... has anyone tried painting calipers with something other than caliper paint? If so, did it hold up???
