Did you notice any actual improvement in the light projected out the back? LED's are notorious for increasing the light when looking directly at it, but not having the ability to properly project it to a distance...
hey all, this might sound like a really dumb question but on my other car i have a reverse lockout and my old car would grind if you shifted to reverse while in motion. i was curious to see if my new cobalt had a reverse lock out and was surprised that it just went into reverse, now i didnt release my clutch (talk about engine damage) but seeing as there wasnt no grinding sound i guess its ok to do this? basicly with super bright reverse lights it would be the ultimate "back off" to the anoying tailgater

By the way, it is a huge fine and typically a court appearance if you flash someone with lights from the rear of your car (other than your break lights). A guy did it with his truck lights (rear mounted spots) to an older couple that was tailgating him and he was convicted of a suspended license, $1,600 fine and community service.
Be very careful if you want to do something like that...

I did this to my car a while ago and actually it doesn't make it easier to see. It makes it worse because the blueish tint of the led doesn't reflect off things as well as the stock bulbs. Here is a pic of my car with the leds lights. But even though it doesn't light up the back as well as the stock ones it looks x1000 better.

These led's are about 3 time brighter than the stock bulbs.
straight view.

Where did u get them? I am also interested, especially if anyone knows where to get a full LED bulb replacement that just plugs in. My reverse lights suck now with the niteshades completely over them and I'm looking for something brighter to try and light up the back better.
I get the 1 watt ultra bright led's through my company $20 a piece.
They come in a red, blue, white, green, & amber. These are custom mounted, so it is not like a normal plug in bulb for those of you who can't fabricate or customize.

You paid $40 for two LED lights and everybody says the new 40-LED taillights sold by CobaltPerformanceParts are too expensive

40 LED lights! 10 in each light!

10 LEDs in each housing. Large LEDs in outside housings and small ones in inside housings. Don't have one with the reverse lights but the light output is the same -- uses the original reverse bulb.

Does anyone have LEDs for their running lights? I bought the white ones but they're just not bright enough. superbrightleds.com says that they wont work because of the low current draw. anyone know anything about this?
I have amber ones.
All you need is a Lamp Load Resistor: 25 Ohm, 25 Watt load resistor.

This will take the extra current and allow you to use the leds.
