BuyHIDs Retrofit help

Hey guys,

I am trying to find the best way to prevent water from getting behind the retrofits and I'm at a loss. Any tips tricks you guys did to prevent water from getting in the wires?

I don't want my $500 investment breaking in a week (I usually wash weekly)

Any advice, tips, tricks will be greatly appreciated

*edit*

Well, I was trying to figure out the best way and I tucked the passenger side in a pretty good spot, did so with the driver side and now the halo doesn't work. The HID does but not the halo

when i get my retros back im going to take the wire loom stuff and cover all the wires than put electrical tape around it exactly how the majority of the wires on the car are covered.
because im on the same boat as you. i dont want water getting on the wires. but if all the wires are protected by that wire looming stuff they sell at pepboys than the loom will get wet and not the wires.

LOL, well mine just went out and I spoke with Mike and I found the problem. It's the Inverter box. I swapped out the right for the left and sure enough the inverter box is the culprit.

Guess water got into it some how and fried it. Dammit.

Supercharged Guy, did you disable your other one or are you just running on one

Put your relay back in the engine bay, the rest will be fine. As long as you dont do a bunch of spraying uner the hood you're be fine, the rest of the wiring is waterproof

Also put the inverter box inside the headlight, it's small enough to fit.

Mine was the plug and play, so it's stuck to the back side on the headlight. I don't feel comfortable opening it up to put the inverter box in there.

What should I do? Turns out washing it was the problem, or the rain.

I bought guerrilla glue tape, tubing and heat shrink stuff. I was gonna heat shrink the ends of the tubing, guerrilla glue tape the box so it's covered and work on more tucking of wires.

My new inverter box should be coming next week. I was gonna practice on the one good one first.

Take off the rubber boot on the back of the headlight, you might have room to shove it on there. Other than that you're probably just gonna have to seal it up somehow.

it may have not been your inverter box, they are pretty water tight. i had the same problem as you BUT it was the cheesy black connectors mike uses. after taking them connecters off and doing it the right way i havnt had a problem since.

well the way i did it was took the connectors off soldered the wires together and shrink wrapped them. this way you dont get the halo not coming on or only working when it feels like.

if it was damp outside my halo would not work, now it can pour and the halo stays on no problem.

that will determine if it was the poop connectors or not
