Can you remove the sunroof slide panel?
Can you remove the sunroof slide panel?
Hey! I am getting ready to recover my headliner and I decided to try to take out the panel which covers the sunroof (to recover as well). However I am finding that the tabs on the side of the panel are getting hung up on something. Does anyone know how to remove the sunroof panel? Need help asap!!!!!
Will I have to try to recover the panel in place?

Already did that.... The sunroof panel is above the metal bracket for the dome light and runs along the center rail of the sunroof rails. The tabs on either side of the panel hook into the center rail. Even if I get the panel off of the rails I still can not get it out because it is getting hung up on something. I think removing the rails is out of the question because they support the sunroof glass...
Anyone who has recovered their headliner please help!!!! Getting desperate.....
bump... anyone??

i replied to your visitor message lol.. i dont know if you got it.. but anyways, ill tell ya again.. you need to drop the sunroof to get that shade out.. its pretty easy, just make sure you have an extra set of hands.. makes it go alot easier
no need to drop the sunroof, just open the roof so it tilts forward, then with a lil force push up on the slider so that the tabs on one side pop out, then you can wiggle it out from the top. i did this a few days ago, so I know it works. btw, the edges of the slider may be sharp. dont slice your finger like i did
Ok.. I got it out - and to you guys that said it was easy - pphhhhhbbbbbttttt!!!!! That was the biggest pita ever.
I cracked a tab, but I think it will be fine... I ended up pulling down on one corner (jamming it into the other corner) and then maneuvering the back corner down and out.... Once you get one side out it does come out fine but until then you are screwed... I also lifted the back of the sunroof rather than dropping it as dropping it did nothing as far as accessing the tabs....
Thanks for the clues though - I really appreciate it.... I would warn others that if they are thinking about recovering everything that they better be really committed to the project... I am currently on day 2 and only about 1/2 done (although I am also installing a dome light and recovering my rear deck lid as well)... I estimate about 2 more days at least before I can start re-installing.... (no idea how I am going to get the sunroof panel back into the car...)
