carbon fiber hood and/or trunk?!?!

i have been thinking about going wingless, and want a carbon fiber trunk, and if i get the trunk i might as well get the hood to match. it will be OEM style.

my question is, is it hard to get the new carbon fiber peices to fit right, like the factory hood and trunk did? and if you have pics please post them. thanks guys!!!

-Casey

or if there is already a thread on this please send me that way.

I believe you have to use some sort of hood pins for the hood. I could be wrong!

I have the SS CF hood, and my shaved CF trunk will be arriving next week. I have no hood pins just the stock latching mechanism and ive had my car around 140 with it on with no problems what so ever.
Fit is SURPRISINGLY good for aftermarket. My buddy has a vis invader 2 and it fits like ass. We both compared the two and were very surprised. Mine is made by body armor.
I can take some better pictures of the lines if you want, heres a few i happen to have on the computer. Also the first picture is reflecting the clouds that were in the sky, there is no marks or defects in my hood ( knock on wood! ) lol

just take your time when you put the pieces on, line up the edges, snug the bolts in their halfway tight, open and shut the hood a few times and check your lines again. make sure everything lines up then fully tighten

I have an OEM carbon fiber hood and trunk. Fit wasn't too bad, had to use spacers to make the fit work but overall I love it. I ensured that I specified I wanted a reinforced hood latch to ensureit doesn't come flying up. Make sure that's what you ask for unless you want to use hood pins. I have gone over 200 km/h and no issues whatsoever. I used CF Technologies in Hamilton, Ontario if you're interested. I have pics in my profile.

thanks for the pics. how long did it take you to get it to line up right? it looks like it fits perfect. and i think hoodpins would look kinda cool, but it seems like they would get annoying? idk. i think CF on dark cars just looks amazing. cuz you kinda have to take a 2nd look like... was that CF? lol and if you could, can you get a close up of the hood where it meets the headlights? that would be awsome.

how many spacers and what size? and did you have to use them for the hood and trunk? or just one. i have heard all over that the trunk lids are hard as **** to get right.
and yes, do they have a website? i might take a look.
i thought about getting the trunk and maybe the hood from Cobalt addication.com

if the website is cf-tec.com
its not working. it says its this account has been suspended.

It does fit damn good im very happy. It took me maybe 10 minutes total. One thing I forgot to mention tho is I did not use the factory hood prop. Since a CF or even Fiberglass hood is very light weight the hood prop tends to bow them when closed in the location that it connects. Yes that was CF :-) Its raining right now, if it stops today or tommorow ill snap you a picture and post.

is there anything wrong with just taking off the struts for the trunk if i put a cf one on there? i know that when you put the lighter cf on there the struts pushes up on it. so other than having to lift in manually....is there anything wrong with having hinges and nothing else?

I don't have the strut on my hood. But it's still attached at the engine bay end. I just lift the hood and put the strut on manually.
