Carbon Fiber Layout Guide
Carbon Fiber Layout Guide
Hopefully this helps other members out there wanting to do Carbon Fiber work. By getting more insight on this type of material.
5.7oz 2x2 Twill
This your usual "aftermarket" part finish. Light, strong, thin.

5.7oz Plain weave
This your "standard" OEM carbon fiber finish. Same properties as the twill fabric, but not as deep looking when epoxied.

8.3oz 4x4 Twill
Great diagonal weave pattern. Very deep looking.

11oz 2x2 Twill
Heavier version of the 5.7oz fabric. The weave pattern is larger as well. Great for larger peices where the carbon fiber pattern needs to stand out.

Blue carbon/kevlar
Great appearance and additional abrasion resistance. The blue really stands out in a strong light and adds a very nice dept and color to this fabric.

Green carbon/kevlar
Great appearance and additional abrasion resistance. Once epoxied we have found the green to be difficult to distinguish from the black except in very strong light.

Orange carbon/kevlar
Great appearance and additional abrasion resistance. Looks more like a faded red than orange onve epoxied.

Plain carbon/kevlar
Great appearance and additional abrasion resistance. The kevlar is left it's natural muted yellow color.

Red carbon/kevlar
Great appearance and additional abrasion resistance. Like the blue CF/K fabric, this really stands our under a strong light.

Aluminized Fiberglass
Often times sold as "Silver carbon fiber", this is in fact a glass fabric where the individual strands of glass have been coated in aluminum. It looks fantastic once epoxied, and is very striking in person.

Probably the most reliable, durable & cost efficient method of getting your hands onto some REAL Carbon Fiber is by buying it off of this website:
