If the lips truely are chrome then its gonna take a bit of work to get the powdercoat to bond. They would pretty much have to strip the chrome. So you are probably looking at 100 per wheel. Chrome is a PITA.

How to powder coat chrome?
^read that

I would paint it myself, the powder coat will most likely chip mounting/unmounting tires

Am comfortable using rattle can, since i pretty good with it IMO, would make it cheaper as less then 20 bucks to prep, sand , color and clear coat it, I like powder coating but wouldn't do to wheels unless i know a good powder coat shop, and some that can take care of them when mounting tire and what not

Yeah I agree both ways here, if you know how to use a rattle can well, you can do amazing **** with it, some people can paint like pros with rattle cans, and is cheaper by far

I would guess sand it down to metal. Chrome's a coating, not a material, so it can come off.

Sand/strip the rim of the chrome, sand surface with 400/600 grit, or lower if you have curb rash, paint with 2-4 coats, let dry, then clear with 3 coats, cure, sand with 1500/2000 to get any imperfections out if wanted, buff.

I'd give it a try i were you, what do you got to lose? 20bucks?

Yeah what he said lol, but take your time also, and build your paint up, don't just attack it with paint, do a very like coat then alil more and so on and so on, that laso keeps it from running, and also whatever you chose to do, post pics of the after or GTFO

You have to blast all the chrome off, then prime and paint them. You can't even rough up chrome and get paint to stick permanently. You can scuff them up with abrasives but if you do not remove the chrome, no paint will adhere for more than a couple of days/weeks.

good how to for ya:
