Cleanin the inside...

Okay, so I've had the car for a lil over a month and I've cleaned the outside about a million times, but this is the first I've tackled the black interior...I've never had a car with a black interior before sooo I've never really dealt with this. I used armor all wipes just to get the dust off (it's what my parents had laying around the house)...but it leaves the interior (the dash, the doors, everything) looking all spotty and streaky annnd I'm really not digging the greasy feel. What SHOULD I be using here? At this point I think I'd be better off with a damp rag!

Thanks...I'm headed out to look for those cleaning wipes now...I probably have the shiny stuff, I'll go check.
I haven't had any problems with my glass...I'm usually pretty picky with my windows, but I haven't had a prob w/these at all.

Use window cleaner and newspaper. Your windows will be streak free DON'T BUY THE ARMOR ALL WINDOW WIPES!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE

I've actually had 0 problems using the Armor All window wipes as long as the car is not out in the direct sunlight. I can only use it on my front because I won't take a chance of touching my tint with them but my front window is nearly totally streak free...just some remaining ones from the last time I used just water and a dry towel to wipe them.

As for the inside, all I use on EVERYTHING is a damp rag followed up by a cotton towel to dry things up a bit and get any fuzz off left behind by the rag...this includes the leather seats. Something about allowing the seats to dry naturally as per the car's manual when using hard water makes me a little nervous but I would assume it's treated to take a beating.

I think on page 5-81 of the user manual there are notes on appearance care and how GM recommends you go about cleaning it. Pretty much what it boils down to is a damp rag . They do not recommend any products which enhance the glare of your interior (I used these by accident the first time I cleaned it and have had a hell of a time getting all the **** off) but as Chevy4Life recommended, if you really want to use the wipes make sure they're cleaning wipes only.

You crumple it up (really bunch it up) in your hand. Spray the window with your preferred window cleaner. Then wipe the whole window down with the bunched up newspaper. It will clean the windows and leave them streak free.

I was wondering the same thing because I get these little white smudges along the edge, I would guess trying out the damp rag idea but I haven't done it myself.

I have the exact same problem too...I think I"ll try the damp rag thing...but it's annoying how easily that stuff gets smudged.

use some coffee filters along with your glass cleaner. The filter's are great and don't leave streaks like towels or anything

I like seeing all the inventive things you can clean your car with. You could use diapers to wash your car too since they are so soft. lol.

no really, the filters work. I used to work at a convenience store and the trainer told me the best way is with the filters. I was skeptical too at first

an easy little trick I learned when I worked at a car wash a million years ago is to spray your cleaner windex, or what ever and use your bare palm as a scrubber then wipe the glass dry w/newspaper or a good towel that doesn't have fabric softner in it. No streaks No armor- all it will eventually cause the leather to crack and absorb more soils looking caked on really nasty

use paper towls... the tri fold white ones you find at any public restroom. spray windex... use one to clean and one to dry, works great.

i bought a small armorall spray, and i used it on the dash, doors and everything
came out mint, even took off the marks on the weird door paneling

did you know that most fogging of the windshield is caused by dust on the dashboard?

The newspaper trip always work good.. Although I am unsure if I Want to be using it on my tinted windows... But I doubt it would hurt it at all..

I use McGregors (spelling) wipes for my leather and Armour All for the plastics.. I don't have a problem with that stuff.. It says not to use stuff that will enhance the shinning?? I don't understand that.. These are 2 very big companys.. I doubt the products that make would harm the seats and stuff.. And I have yet to have a problem.. Oh well if I do its under warrenty.

As a general rule from my modshop, NEVER use anything but newspaper and water on the tinited glass. Overtime the tint may fade to purple w/ products that have ammonia in them like most windowcleaner. The outside is safe tho for Windex and the like since tints are inside. But newspaper finally has a purpose. I collect it from my block and save it for use by my shop.

I'm assuming you can also use a damp rag and follow it up with a soft towel to dry it off after? I figure as long as I don't use any cleaning products or with an extremely rough surface my tint should be ok...I'm more worried about scratching it than anything else. I know the water can't hurt it .
