Cleaning exhaust tip

So i have a corsa cat back exhaust and i know the tip is polished but lets just say it isnt anymore...
ive polished it and cleaned it but it looks like theres just a build up if not corrosion maybe and id really like to take it back to its original look.

now what should i do? is there good cleaners for it? anyone have any suggestions?

i have a dremmel but what kind of tip would i use to clean and polish it?

please help!

clr should take care of it. be easy though. or the protective coat will go with it. i did it to mine and then put xylon on it lol. it wipes off no prob now for the most part. do hav3e to redo it every few months.
a good tip to use would be a rough buffing pad similar to that u use for paint to take off scratches b4 polishing. if its to built up youll have to sand it and redo th polish.

00 steel wool and some mothers mag polish will get rid of some if not most of the oxidation, corrosion and pitting. ive done it in the past with a set of rough looking mickey thompson classic II rims, made them look brand new.

Go to wal mart and buy this stuff called barkeepers friend. Its in the cleaning isle, looks like commet. You mix it with waterthen use some elbow grease. Works good. You gotta redo it every few months tho

i think im gonna try the barkeepers friend with the steel wool and see how that goes

anyone know what kind of dremmel tip i should get to get it really nice and shiny?

It's oxidized?? Lol weird... but metal brite should work as a buffing compound.

hahah idk i havent seen it in 7 months all i know is i used this metal polish stuff a couple months back and it didnt do much good but im gonna try the other stuff but just in case

anyone know anything about dremmel bits?

also what should i use to clean my supercharger/cover on my engine whatever its called haha

and unfortunately my tip isnt as clean as that new corvettes so im gonna try the barkeeper and steel wool

what about wire brushes what do you guys think about that?

Just make sure you use 0000 steel wool or 000 get it wet and scrub by hand and it should clean it up pretty quickly. And yeah that corvette tip is pretty clean, but he cleaned up an SS/SC tip that had never heard of cleaning/polishing an exhaust tip.

And if you want to ruin your polished look and go for a brushed look use the wire brush

Yeah just steel wool you can pick up at any hardware store, just make sure you have a bucket of water next to you, so you're basically wet sanding. and when you're done throw the piece of steel wool away or it will become a rusty pile where ever you sit it.

so im gonna be pulling it out of storage its been sitting for 7 months first step is a oil change and a fresh tank of gas
anyone have any other suggestions of anything i should do before my 400 mile trip?

Fresh wiperblades and fluid? I'm sure there will be plenty kamazi bugs wanting to die on your windshield.

Oil, trans fluid if automatic, coolant, brake fluid, power steering, and finally windshield washing fluid.
