i've never seen a set that worked as well as the original doors, so, i don't care for them.

yea ive seen some skittles that had to have the guy pull the door down with all his weight and then line it up with the frame to close right after 20 tries.

I think it is all in the install

mperez and jcswoosher and a number of others have seen how well mine was installed. I dont line anything up or worry about closing/opening and it looks stock closed.... no wind through the cracks.

I hate how they look on, well, just about anything. I don't even like em that much on Lambos so of course I'm going to think they're hideous on a Cobalt.

dude, i'm not saying that you did a bad job. if they work and you like them, then rock out with your **** out.

but, it's kind of like why so many people don't care for civics, for every nice one, there are 12 shitboxes

not a huge fan of any door option other than stock, just doesn't appeal to me in any way, don't understand the purpose.

I was more entertained by gull wings than scissor style doors. I just wish they actually made that whirring noise the DeLorean did in Back to the Future. I remember seeing a poster that showed scissor doors are so overdone now that Lambo quit doing it.

Oh! And if I get any 4dr car, I WILL make it have suicide rear doors.

i agree totally. i just think they look so stupid, and are played out. in my mind, it's like getting spinner rims or something.

I like the idea of them considering how long the Cobalt doors are.. going up instead of out is much easier to get in and out of tight spaces. But I would never do them.. too jr. high.

Any car besides a Lambo + vertical doors = rice IMO.

They're just like the big aluminum wings and stick on hood scoops that "ricers" have been known to do......they have zero function and look tacky in my eyes.

functionality and appearance are totally different imo.

I think to compare your analogy would be me putting "HEMI" logos on my fender....which is false advertisement.

but good comments, keep em coming.

My brother had a set on his Integra and they were junk but I am 90% sure it was install reasons. I would love to get a set for mine BUT after seeing my brothers screw up his car I am iffy.

x2

I originally had a "proffesional" install them. Omg the underside fenders were cut with snips and jagged. The doors didnt line up on the top or bottom and they didnt tighten the bolts to spec. Rain water came through the top of my doors and they used a 2nd weather strip in attempts to fix it. Also if i drove down the highway you could hear a high pitched scream of air going through.

Not to mention they didnt use any sort of adhesive/sealer on the adjustment screws so it would go out of alignment. All in all it was one crap-tastic job.

I was about 2 breaths away from going back to stock when my old man convinced me to attempt to fix them since they were small nuances that can be fabricated better.

We ground down the hinge so it would "pull" the door to the frame, sealed all the adjustment bolt threadings with silicone gasket maker (didnt want locktite during breakin). Used a cutter to cut the slits in my newly purchased fender wells using a pattern off the hinge. Also covered the wires with a rubber housing that "pull up" when the door raises.

Bought some 750 rated shocks, greased the hinges and they do well.

Take it from me. You will not like putting these doors on your car if you dont have them properly installed. I did alot of reading on the subject before making the purchase.

Where the door meets the hinge is pretty solid steel.(if thats what your referring to) The hinge is more likely to break than the door and its half inch steel.

Maybe playswitcars can chime in since he was one of the first to have the install done.

If you seriuously need a reason to NOT do lambo doors, here's a simple search of why NOT to.

http://images.google.com/images?ndsp...s&start=0&sa=N

Look at what the doors are being put on. . . if that doesn't answer the question of tacky/rice, then you're beyond help.

^^^^^ made me lol

so that lamborghini is riced out? <-----

Most of those cars shown are riced already. They didnt need vertical doors to complete it.

Found this, thought I'd share. It'd really suck to go through high water and have the motor die though. Other than that it seems okay. May lose some headroom though to hide the door.

Nm, I hate it already.

There needs to be a reward out for that person's head. Shoot on site. Plz. Why you would butcher a Vette like that is beyond me.
