Custom Headlights

Just a thought.. Take a set of headlights and cut the plastic off the fronts, but leave enough material to glue back together, and paint the inner housing to match the body color.. any thoughts?

I think that would be a bad idea because you'll probably get moisture in it for sure. As for painting the same color that's ok. But trust me it'll prove to be more trouble than its worth.

Not to mention you dont have to CUT anything... usually a heat gun (hair dryer) or even toss them in the oven for a few min, will make them seperate....

And if you use 100% silicone and seal them good you will never get water in them

I was under the impression that he was going to cut the plastic and make some weird ass design where it just covered the lights or something. I was totally mistakin. Ya no need for cutting, just put it in the oven that works best for me.

No I was thinking of something else, I know painted headlights have been done, I did mine blue. The cuttin part was throwin me off because you dont cut your headlights to paint them, that's what I was confused about.

hey did you put amber bulbs back into the turn signals, doesn't look like it. And it doesn't help motorists who dont know if you're turning or not. plus its illegal, you need them amber bulbs, just wondering.

No they dont glow orange... there not orange bulbs. I dont see how anyone would have a problem... they see a flashing light on one side of my car they should assume that means im turning.

Looks sick Pursuit, maybe you should try the white out corners in the headlight painting thread. I am tacking this project this weekend.

I have the easy answer for this to both keep the clean appearance as well as still remain legal.

They are chrome when off, but glow bright amber when on. Legal and Sexy... Just like a Blonde 18 year old.

If you mean the reflectors, I made clear ones but they just didn't look as good as the orange.

I used Standard Clear Prism Acrylic(fluorescent light cover)

The clear just didnt flow as well as the orange.
