dang im retarded.
dang im retarded.
so I rushed through things and ordered a HID kit from 3bspec, at first I was thinking I was going to be getting a full new headlight but I now know this is not the case...
I really want to put them in but I want to know if im forsure going to be blinding people. is there anyway I can check and see before I start driving around on the highway etc.
also, is it street legal? ive already got a bunch of illegal things on my car but HIDs that are blinding people is pretty damn obvious...so I wouldnt want that.
thanks

you might have to aim them down slightly, but the stock cobalt housings do not produce as much HID glare as most other cars do. they really aren't too bad. i always aimed my cobalt headlights by parking in front of the garage door, and using the door slats as a point of reference.
temps you can get away with when aimed decently are 4300k 5000k and 6000k. once you get 8000k or above it starts going from blue to purple to pink to green and such
technically yes because it's technically illegal to modify a DOT certified headlamp lol and the temp of the hids will still cause attention HOWEVER you'll be less likely to get pulled over with projectors if you have hids since some cars come stock with them
well i dont get tint tickets unless i get pulled over for speeding, so im thinking I shouldnt get a HID ticket unless im speeding, but if i do get pulled for speeding that will be 3 seperate tickets which would suck dick
good luck...
I've got projectors and 8000K HID's... no problems as of yet... and I've had them for about 8-9 months...
They look exactly like a stock nissan altima or any acura..

have u ever been pulled over for anything else like speeding etc? usually thats when they get you for fix it stuff.
I just asked a friend who has unprojected 8k HID's and hes never been pulled over and hes also got tinted tails (illegal in MO) and illegal tints

ive had mine in stock housings for 3 years and never had any problems with the police. even when I got pulled over for my exhaust. Wether cops will bother you or not depends on how **** they are in your town. Just cause someone says ZOMG theyre illegal cops will be looking for you, doesnt mean it will apply to you in your area.
10K in OEM housings is a cop magnet.
The only real way you can get away with a retrofit (Illegal except when in proper HID designed housings... meaning you'd have to make your own with HID projectors since ebays are technically halogen projectors) is to get HID designed housings, or fool the cops.
You can fool the cops though by keeping the temp at or below 6K (4300K is the best as it is OEM HID color in most cars equipped with D2S or D2R HID). You will need the eBay projector housings too since they make the car look like they came with HID stock (Cops really cannot tell the difference between a true HID projector and a Halogen one, so they just assume the projectors of the whiter colors are OEM.) Cops specifically look for very blue to purple lights in reflector housings to determine aftermarket retrofit jobs.
Always follow this little rule of thumb (I do): "If it may blind cops, change it so it won't"
