Dark tail lights?

Anyone know where I can get a dark set of coupe tail lights? I would like a set darker then just the normal smoked ones. Are there any vendors on here that have those or anyone know any other sites I can get them from?

Smart idea. Darken the lights on your car that stop people from slamming into you....

Is it easy for someone who has no experience with this to pull it off?

taking the lights out is easy (just a 10mm socket i think) painting them all comes down to your skill, and thats the important part. if u do it, remember u only need a few LIGHT coats (3-5), not one really heavy one, or a few heavy ones. also wetsand and let dry before u reinstal them, doing them out of the humidity is also kindof important as to how the paint dries (sticky, hazy, crappy looking)

that help a little?

Modern performance used to sell some smoked LED ones. Not sure why they stopped selling them. I had them for about 4 years with no issues.

If you want the ultimate tinted tails get the 92 led taillight replacement bulb from v-leds and 3 coats of VHT nightshades on the plastic covers. Leave the high mount brake light alone- do not tint this or risk getting sued.

why not tint the 3rd brake light? because of how dark the other lights will be?

There's not enough room in that housing to put powerful enough bulbs. Plus you know without a doubt people know when you are stopping with that brake light.

Ahh, there are 3 bulbs in the 3rd brake light. You'd have to black it out to not see it.

I did 3-4 lite coats of VHT, then 4 lite coats of Clear on my tail lights and they came out dark cherry red. Looks good.

It's all in the preparation before painting though. Get all the shiny finish off the stock lights first using scotch-brite pads or similar. And wet sand (1500/2000 grit) the VHT coats before you apply the Clear coat. Let the VHT and Clear dry completely between coats. I also put them in the oven @ 180 for 15 minutes after the final Clear coat. Took me the whole day to do it - start to finish. Don't rush it.

The side markers and 3rd brake lite are darker though, maybe 5-6 lite coats of VHT. That's the way I wanted it. Blends in more with a black 'Balt.
