Different Bow-Tie
Different Bow-Tie
Anyone know if anyone sells different Bow-Ties for the Cobalt? I wouldn't mind replacing the front & rear with a black or chrome or carbon fibre badge, the gold is pretty bad imo.
I forget who it was, but a regular on this site used carbon fibre vinyl decal to cover his, he's got pictures in the gallery somewhere. It's a fairly simple process, all you need is your fingers (for something this small), a safety pin (to pop any bubbles, but you shouldn't get any if you do it right), a sharp knife or razor blade, and a gentle touch to do this (cut very lightly so as not to scratch anything).
Edit: I tried to look through the gallery for you guys, but my connection is unbearably slow tonight for some reason. I'm pretty sure it was a red SS/SC, one of the first guys to get one around these forums, too.

Don't really need a "kit", just go to your local sign shop, if they don't have the vinyl you want they can order it. I'm not sure about the carbon fiber, but any sign shop should have scrap pieces laying around of the regular vinyls. If you pay more than $10 (for 1 square foot, should be plenty to cover the badges), your paying way, way too much. $10 for the vinyl, 84 cents for a pint of isopropyl alcohol (to clean it with first for best adhesion), and less than $2 for a knife or a small pack of razor blades should be all you need.
Unfortunately, most sign shops probably won't have carbon fiber vinyl (Avery brand sells some) already in stock, and since they can only order full rolls (12" x 50 yards), they may try to charge you for the full roll. I've got a friend who works for a sign shop and I've been trying to get him to make up some common windshield decals (like the "American Revolution" ones) and maybe order a roll or two of the carbon fiber and then register as a vendor on here. I'm doing a couple jobs for him next week, I'll talk to him some more about it then.

I just took my back badge of yesterday, what a diference in person. It looks so clean. And the front one I got the gold all painted black. Going to pick it up after work and bolt her back on. Should look good. I seen somewhere on here where someone bought some new badges.
