Question dome light help ?

hi i am trying to install L.E.D.'s as my dome light i pulled the bulb out and rigged up a little board with 12 LED's on it plugged it in and it worked!!! the issue is that when i have the dome settings to turn on when the door is open it stays on, not bright but very dim but its draining my battery very fast i don't know how to stop this. the bulb never did this before

i was wondering if maybe some one had a wiring guide out there that would help or any suggestions at all

You sure it's draining the battery or are you just assuming it is? LEDs draw almost no power, so it would take months if not years to completely drain a battery using only an LED. I swapped my mirror's map lights with LEDs and they stay dimly lit after they "shut off" too and I've never had a problem with battery power.

i am somwhat sure that it is my assumtion is that is not just the LED's i think that its just loosing power thourgh the connection rapidly but its never had this poblem till i replaced the bulb with it. i was thinking about adding an resistor to it just to see if that would fix anything but i might just replace the bulb back in it and see if that is the problem

I had the same problem when I put an LED into my dome. Don't worry, its because of how LEDs use less power, etc. Hell you could leave it on fully lit for ever and the battery isn't gunna drain since LEDs use so little power.

i would have wired them up with 680 ohm resistors to each side of the postive on the leds... that will draw more current

OK so i have found that is is not the led's i think now that it might be the battery terminal i replaced it when i installed my subs a friend of mine made the suggestion that the alternator wire my have bumped loose and not charging my battery i played with the wire a little bit and its firing up fine for now i hope that fixes it lol

ps: any suggestions on what kinda sound insallation i should use in my trunk to keep it from rattling so much ?

Didnt read the thread, but leds in MOST cars stay on all the time. Even when the car is running. LED's will not drain your battery as fast you say. Where did you get the bulbs?
