Door Hanlde Removal
Door Hanlde Removal
Ok so long story short - The tranny went in my cobalt - I was pissed and broke the drivers side door handle. How the heck do I remove the door handle so I can replace the actual handle itself. Thanks!
you take off the door panel and there is three sockets holding the actual handle on once you take those three off you can pull it out then you just unclip the piece that it pulls then replace.
maybe thatll help
maybe thatll help
Keep in mind that there is very little clearance in there to get at the bolts. When I changed my body colored handles to the chrome ones I had to really wrestle to get my hands in the tight spaces and use a ratchet at the same time. Take it slow and you should be fine.
Get ready to be throughly pissed off. Getting everything off is the easy part haha. It really sucks putting those three bolts back in when you can't see **** because the glass/door structure/window track is all right there too.
Enjoy.
You should be able to figure out how the lock and door handle cable are attached. If not the handle cable/rod can be released from the bottom (speed clip like thing) and the door lock has a oddly shaped plastic piece that you have to pop off. You'll see when you get in there.

Use 2 flat heads. Push the tab in with one, pry the tab off with the other. Be careful as they can break.
1 screw for the door handle cover, 2 screws for the switch cover.
You can slide the door handle through the hole if you turn it sideways. Makes it a lot easier than removing the cable.
