duel exhuast on the 2.4....guy wants to sell me 2 brand new mufflers for $50

so this guy has 2 brand new mufflers that he can sell to me for 50 bucks. I think they are some off brand. They have a burnt tip and say "RS TYPE" on them. im pretty sure its like a 3 inch. But i was thinking on goin to a shop and they could do a duel exhaust for me.

Now does any one have these rs type mufflers or have you heard about them? they have silencers on them but i dont want them to sound like a fart can....like look so badass but again i dont want that ricer sound....can someone give me some infoooooo...pics of the mufflers in a sec..

If you put those on your car every time you go out driving around people will be looking around to see where the honda is only to see a cobalt and laugh

with the silencers, the mufflers will be virtually silent. i had one on my old cavalier and you couldnt hear the car with tthe silencer in.

i have a Cherry Bomb Super Turbo on my 2.4 and i love it. its a chabered muffler, not a flow through design, so it has a nice deep tone and no whiny raspy sound. and witht the chambered muffler, a resonator is not required for good sound. i plan on trying to do a daul set up come spring/summer. ive thought about two mufflers or even a crossflow dual setup ( like 3rd gen camaro) with the same type off muffler i have now.

I'm thinking of buying a dynomax super turbo muffler myself and maybe go with dual exhaust.

yeah dude, good choice. when i redo my exhaust i want to use stainless so its still there in 3 yrs. but i think that the chambered mufflers sound alot better, and alot of people i know agree.

and stock exhaust tip FTW!!!

Never had understood putting dual mufflers on a 4 cylinder. Always heard it lessens backpressure too much and actually hurts performance.

we if you use a flowthrough muffler it aint gonna matter anyway casue there will not be added backpressre from the muffler. i use a chambered muffler, keeps the backpressure and isnt raspy

but backpressure is the enemy. you dont want backpressure but you do want a properly sized pipe that allows for maximum exhaust velocity. /threadjack

Incorrect. On an N/A Engine some back pressure can be a good thing.

have you studied exhaust theory at all? backpressure is simply defined as resistance to positive flow. you want exhaust gases to exit the combustion chamber as fast as possible. how do you do this? by picking a properly sized pipe to increase exhaust velocity while maintaining as little backpressure as possible. backpressure is essentially choking the car in the top end. you want positive flow, not something holding it back therefore backpressure is the enemy. you dont want it, at all!

Yes I have. If you create too lil back pressure an NA engine will lose torque period.

Have you studied NA engines at all or only turbo ones? Have you studied exhaust theory at all?

http://modernmusclecars.net/forums/a...hp?do=dynamics read up its a good post by someone.

An NA engine does need some back pressure for low end tq. Lose too much back pressure and you will kill off some of the low end tq. It can be a possible to get that power back ontop but obviously this isnt the greatest combo for the street. And since 99% of the cars here are street cars giving up too much back pressure can be a bad thing.

Now on this guys car honestly id think the Y in the exhaust and the 2 mufflers would probably not be much different than a single straight through muffler which a lot of people run on 2.4s anyway.

did you read my post at all? you understand that article/post said exactly what i said right? you want as little backpressure as possible while keeping exhaust velocity at the maximum possible. where did i say bigger is better?

you said you dont want back pressure at all.

and if thats the case why dont you just run an open header?

so why do race cars run open headers? just cause its loud doesnt mean its not properly sized piping to provide maximum exhaust velocity and scavenging. and with properly sized piping you are going to have a small minuscule amount of backpressure

jesus christ. properly sized piping which keeps exhaust velocity at its maximum with have the smallest amount possible. minuscule amounts
