DupliColor Caliper Paint Kit

Ok, i have a question. On the box it says not to drive for 24 hours....How long did you wait and did you have any problems with the paint coming off?

Almost every paint job on your car, you'llsee it suggests a 24 hour curing period. Really helps on heated metals and such. Best to follow the guide on that one. Last thing you want is the paint to peel fast.

I've got a silver kit, gotta have a weekend to put it on jsut for this fact.

Let it sit for at least 24 hours, or the paint won't cure right when you start driving it around.
Also if your going to use this kit, make sure you put at LEAST 3-4 coats on. You'll have plenty of paint, trust me.

I put 10 coats each and let it dry 24hrs this time, last time i put 3 and drove it 12 hrs later and 2 weeks down the road it was peeling off :P so far 2 weeks and it looks like it did when i put it on

and you will have enough paint to do your friends car, his brotehrs car, and all there friends.

also i found it works best if you do 2 calibers at a time, for example gwet both front wheels off, do one side, while its drying to the other, then go back and forth. trink is do not let teh brush get hard. might need to pick up a few at walmart if your brush gets too hard.

heres exactly what i did in order;

opened the box.
got everything out.
got some cleaner (caliper cleaner and just some random cleaner thats 'universal')
got an old tooth brush.
jacked the car up, took the tires off the right side first.
sprayed the caliper cleaner on them, used the tooth brush and 'cleaned' it.
sprayed on the cleaner, got a rag and scrubbed it.
cleaned it with caliper cleaner once more.
painted it. x5 or 6.
waited a couple of hours.
put all tires back on and left. drove like hell.
calipers are still red with no cracks or nothing.

My paint is flaking off on just one caliper, which is kindda weird. I'm gonna redo it when I do my rotors and see if it sticks better the second time.

I gave the Duplicolor kit three coats and let it sit overnight for about 8-10 hours and it never peeled on me for over a year. The only problem was that the yellow was more of a schoolbus yellow that sucked a$$, so I had to repaint it this summer. So I wouldn't worry too much about the Duplicolor kit, just make sure it matches the color that you want.

Well i am not putting down duplicolor or anything its just that this caliper paint comes with a bottle of reactor you need to mix with the paint and what it does is hardens the paint to the caliper and has a great shine and smooth feel i have put 800 miles on my since i did mine and they were black with caliper dust and well i took my finger and wiped it right off and i was like damn cause caliper dust sticks to everything

Yea, i think im gonna leave it sitting for as long as possible. did anyone take the one piece of the caliper off and take the brakes out and then paint it or did you just mask everything off then paint it?

I did mine last fall and drove about 2 hours after. All was good until the salt from the snow hit them and they peeled off. This time I will put my car down for the count for the whole day...and use high heat spray paint instead of that silly brush.

Hey man i painted mine with a brush. And the kit i bought is good up to like 900 degrees i believe. But as far as the other guy who is scraping it off with his key use a drill and a wire brush wheel with some brake cleaner and it will come right off casue i my friend used the yellow duplicolor kit and his peeled so we stripped his and did it with the G2 paint kit
