Get this shizzy.

Be careful with it. It likes to eat Aluminum.

Cut it with water...

50% : 50% for the engine compartment

and on the motor itself, 25% Super Clean and 75% Water. Let it sit for 2 Min and scrub it down with a soft plastic brush. Hose it down and Bob's Your Aunt..

i thought you could use wd-40 to remove any of the grime on the engine then scrub it with soapy water then rinse it?

WD-40 will clean it, but the porus nature of metal will cause it to soak up the WD as well..

Your going to thin im just crazy, but use coke... not the kind you sniff.. but the kind you drink. Coke has a nice slight acid that cleans very well. I use it all the time. just go get a bottle of coke and apply it to a old rag.. if your juast cleaning the engine.. then after u use the coke, then just use a tamp cloth to wipe it away so it dosent get sticky. trust me this seriously works for grease, dirt and grime. hope i was helpful.

Yet another mythbusters lie.... I've seen coke eat a glob of grease right off of my driveway.... it is an excellent degreaser.... try putting some in a styrofoam cup and leave it in the sink overnight.... will eat right through.

Now I wouldn't suggest it for cleaning engines (b/c of the sugar) but it will clean other things nicely.

Simple Green does the job in the engine compartment quite well too!

Thats what I was going to reccommend as well. Either Castrol Super Clean or Simple Green Automotive Degreaser. Both are excellent products, but as Brian said, you should probably dilute the Superclean with water if you use that - no dillution necessary with the Simple Green

I definitely wouldn't use any petroleum based products, like WD-40 or Brake Cleaner. It appears that they clean well, but what you don't realize is that, like every other petroleum based product, they leave residue behind. Somehow it just doesn't make sense to try and clean oil with petroleum, its like cleaning your paint with dirt

Also eats plastic, discolors things, and leaves behind residue

Try cleaning an object with brake cleaner, and then try to paint it. You'll see what I mean about residue.

Its good for things such as brakes (i.e., its intended purpose) but there are much better degreasers/cleaners available than Brake Cleaner. Good for cleaning brake calipers and rotors?? Sure. Good for cleaning engines, interiors, and platics?? Not quite...
