EvIl PuMpKiN pRoJeCt!!!

Im a HUGE halloween fan, and Ive always liked it ever since I was a kid. Anyway, theyre selling these small pumpkins which light up and flicker with different colors at big lots. Now seeing how my car is big and orange, I nick named it jack-o-lantern, and I thought to myself that would look kind of cool in the car.

To make a long story short, I plan on painting it to make it look a little more evil ( Im a pretty good painter ), and then eventually when the stage kits come out, if they have toys, putting the switches in the eyes, nose, mouth, etc, replacing the light thats in there now.

What you guys think? Its a little out there, but I think its a pretty sweet idea.

the idea definitely has potential. Just don't over do it. Some themes get carried away and gawdy. A good example is the OCC bikes. They look cool, but only as a show piece. They adorn the bikes with every cliche, obvious element from that theme.

using elements that you like about Jack-o-lanterns would be better than making your car into a jack-o-lantern or having a jack-o-lantern theme. Like, if this was an OCC bike they would be putting jack-o-lanterns in wheel hub, or putting the menacing grin in the grill. see below for subtle examples of associated elements to go with the theme.

examples:
-eyelids to give an evil slanted eye look
-orange/yellow underglow under the seets to mimic the ambient glow of a JOL
-All black wheels (no silver lip) for a darker tone.
-orange/yellow fog lights
-orange shift knob (please don't make it look like a pumpkin for the love of god, that's where gawdy comes in... it's too obvious a solution).
-Orange and black two-tone suede interior.
-two-toned orange/black exterior
-have someone create a logo for Jack-O-Lantern, perhaps in a menacing font and put in on the dash (paint all the silver black and accent with orange).

Just some ideas. Run with it. Just don't go with the obvious solutions. Make subtle references and you'll avoid gawdy and you'll be happier with the result. It will better incorporate the attitude that I think you like about Jack-o-lanterns.

Keep us updated with plenty of pics.

Thanks for the support guys. Dont sweat it though, I wont be over doing it as I like my cars to look CLEAN, not ricey. I will keep pics posted, and the paint job should be a piece of cake as Im used to painting figures ( when I was little ) with TINY TINY brushes, and they came out REALLY nice. I will post a how to once Im finished and take pics along the way.

hey, you got me curious now so I went browsing. Check out the O.Z. Ultrlagerra wheels in black. they come in 225/45's. Do a search on Tire Rack, but you'll have to search for an older model of cobalt, as they don't have anything for the new ones out yet. View them on the car and change the car color to orange... they look very sharp.

In case u didnt look at my sig, I have a CSRT4

dunno if I like them. I like the galileo a little better. I might actually do a red and black combo considering my calipers come painted red from the factory.

These r BAD ASS:

everyone seems to think its a minvan, even though its around 1/2 THE SIZE. I figure, jack-o-lanterns are bad ass just like halloween, my car is orange, everyone thinks its big, so I just put the pieces together.

"Big" + Orange + Halloween = jack-o-lantern. What the hell, might as well work with it . Take lemons and make lemonade so to speak

Make sure you do it by Halloween so you can freak little kids out.

Ive decided a color scheme, and bought the paint already. For the actual color, its going to be black. Then the creases in the pumpkin itself are going to be yellow, and I will highlight it with a grayish blue. Cant wait to start painting tonight.

Almost have it done. Been working on it for a few hrs and it just needs some finishing touches. Here are the progress pics:

Heres the original pumpkin:

Here it is after a yellow wash:

Here it is after a dry brushing:

Here it is after painting:

Here it is after a highlight and minor touch up:

And its almost done. I have to finish the stem and some more minor touch ups tomorrow. Hows it looking so far?
