You would need to sand them with a fine grit sand paper for them to really stick i did a test run on mine with night shades and the 1st wash the peeled

if you sand them you should prolly wet sand them...but just the part to be painted. i would mask it out first and then sand. spray on several light layers and then hit it with a few layers of clear. this is what i did and it's been a couple of mths now with no peeling.

^^ Making sure that the area is always wet while sanding, otherwise it might scratch.

exactly, spray the hell out of it. almost constantly. then dry it off real good. after that i always use isoprophol alcohol on a rag and wipe the surface off. this gets it good n clean and ready to paint.

at this point you'll spray several light layers waiting a few mins in between each spray. then spray a few light layers of the clear coat. with the paint still wet very carefully pull off the tape. you want to take the tape off while the paint is still kinda wet otherwise if the paint has dried you risk the chance of peeling the paint off when taking the tape off and trust me you don't want to have to deal with that headache! good luck and post pics of finished product

I just finished mine about two weeks ago, and it is definatley worth the time and patience to do it right. They look awesome! I sanded down the section for the eyelids, primed it with a few light coats, then used the GM matched spray paint followed by a couple of clear coats. Best way to go... i'll try and get a few pics up here tomorrow.

wow so you sand the lights? i never would have thought to sand it. what does the sanding do? prevents from peeling?
I'm really iffy about doing permanant things to my car seeing as if i screw up im stuck paying for new lights and im on a tight budget and I dont want to drive around with funny lights, let alone spend even more money than i have to because of a stupid mistake.
what does the sanding do when you dont paint over it? is it like bumpy or scratchy or anything?

it will scratch up the surface and leave it cloudy, but what it does is give the paint a rough service to adhere to, to prevent flaking/peeling down the road.

paint doesnt stick as well to shiny or non-porous materials.

i just did my eyelids yesterday. i went to walfart and got some krylon fusion, and clear coat. alls i did was clean the area that was to be painted, then put a couple of coats of fusion and clear and let it dry for an hour. then i installed them back on the car and took it to be washed. it looks amazing. definately better than paying 30-60 bills for them!

your eyelids look great 2.4slowassbalt.

I guess it all depends on the taste. I might sand just a tad bit.

which eyelid shape looks the best I've seen a few different kinds but i just cant decide.

I like An0malous's lights but maybe his look different because its a view from above.
