Few HID questions

OK so I had to opportunity to purchase an HID kit (ballasts and bulbs) from a Lexus RX330 for $50. I have 2nd gen lights so they were surprisingly easy to install. Now my questions...

1. Does anyone know the stock temperature of the HID's that came in the RX330? I was hoping for more of a clean white light or a bluish tint but they look to be more like they are around the 4300K range when they are warmed up.

2. When I first turn them on they are super white and as they warm up they become more of a sunlight color (like I said they appear to be in the 4300K range). Is this normal or do you think that the bulbs need to be replaced? They are used. As I said they came out of a RX330.

I'm looking for like a super white light or even something with a blueish tint. If you guys think the bulbs either don't have the proper temp rating for the color I want or the bulbs are just old and dim over time and are in need of replacement I'm going to start lookin into new bulbs...

Thanks in advance!!!

Yea I'm sure that's what I need but I wasn't sure what temp the factory ones on the RX330 was. I'm just trying to compare and get a reference point...

call up the place you bought them next time and tell them you want the 6000k bulbs that will fit your car.

I bought them off a friend who works for Lexus. He took them off a car because something was up with the lighting and it turned out not to be the ballasts or the bulbs. I didn't have a choice of colors. I just need to know what the factory temp was for these bulbs...

I would get 6k like mentioned above. It produces more light output. But its up to you. Are you trying to go more blue or more yellow? The higher the kelvin, the more blue/purple/pink your going to get and less light output. Everything over 6k is useless. (even though i have 8k.lol)

And all bulbs when "warming" up are more white/blue'ish to begin with. Then they go to the designated color.

would have posted the same thing.

almost all factory HIDs are around 4500 for best light output. i wouldnt run 8k but many do. I am on my second car with my second set of 6ks and wouldnt get anything else.

Yea I know the temps and what they mean and the colors. I just wasn't sure if the bulbs were old and they were gettin dimmer as they aged or whether they were really in the 4300K range.

Anyone know where a good place to buy 6000K D2S HID bulbs is?

Which is what you want, it will give you the most light output. Anything higher and you are wasting your time and money.

I want a white/bluish tint from the 6000K's and the lumins aren't that much off from the 4300K's and they are still like 3x's as bright as your stock bulbs.

How so, because it lights up blue in a reflector style housing?

If you want the best looking lights with the best output...do a projector retrofit with 4300k Phillips blubs.

I have 2nd gen projectors. The cut off is surprisingly good. I'm still considering getting some S2000 projectors and retrofitting the 2nd Gens with them...

I just bought a harness from them because my ebay seller decided not to include one with my kit and I have to say they have the BEST customer service of any vendor on here. They quickly responded to my question and even overnighted my part for the cost of standard shipping. The hell with ebay, if there is anything wrong with my HID's im buying from them in the future.
