A few new appearance mods today

I had covered my chrome shift knob with leather to try that out and see how I liked it. I really didnt. But the chrome was a pia when light hit it and reflected into my eyes while driving. So today I decided to try and brush the chrome and see how it came out. I hit it with some flat clear when I was done. Heres how it came out.

Then today it rained here pretty good. It sucked because since I smoke and have to crack the window I always get water in the car when it rains, so I went out and bought a set of VentShades and put those on. I think they look pretty good on my black car. They dont stand out as much as if I had a different colored car.

Anyway, just thought I would show the new mods off.

VentShades are a must... they look so good on our cars, unlike a lot of other makes and models.

Yeah, I've had my car for about 2 years now and I didnt have them until now. My dad has them on his truck and I had never thought about putting them on a car, but after the rain today and being tired of getting wet while sitting inside the car I figured I'd spring on a set. And for $45 if it cuts the water coming in, then they will be well worth the money. I dont know why I hadnt put them on yet.

Haha. Yeah Im thinking about redoing my door inserts in leather and I dont want them getting ruined by water dripping in. Plus I hate getting out and looking like I didnt shake good enough after taking a **** or something. lmao

to be honest, i masked off for about 2 hrs, (b4 i knew i could pop out the door handles lol) and used krylon spray paint from walmart... about 3.50 a can.... and applied about 8-10 light coats without runs. then if u want (i didnt) a few coats of the same brand clear coat... ive had mine done for about a yr now, and hasnt scratched or peeled or flaked off yet.... it says on the can that its for fabric as well as plastic, and its held up rrly nice!!! be sure to clean everything b4 u paint... oils and dirt wont allow it to stick as well.... i used rubbing alcohol, worked fine as u can see.

the smudges on the bottom of the panel, is dirt from my shoes from getting in and out lol

I may have to give that a try. I dont remember using rubbing alcohol to clean them first and I only put about 3-4 coats on. Guess when the weather gets nicer and isnt raining I'll give it a go again and see how it comes out.

not too bad!. i like the idea of the ventshades, but i really like the one weather tech makes. they are in-channel and dont stick on the outside fo the car.

I like those too but would have to order them online. The ventshades I called my local autozone and they had them by 5 this evening. Plus they were cheaper. If my car was a different color though I definitely would have gone with weathertechs.

Yeah that lip that sticks to the car itself would look weird on any other color but black. But on black try blend pretty well. But they are a pain in the ass to install. That 3m tape don't want to let go for sh*t. Haha
