front bumper question

i have an 06 lt. and since i bought the car and started modding it, i've wanted to change the front bumper. my plans were to replace mine with an oem ss bumper with foglights (which i dont have right now).

now, what im asking is...first, would the ss bumper bolt right on to my car or would i have to do some finagling?? and also, is there anyway i can buy the bumper with the lip already on it? i've look around in the classified's here and im sure i can buy a members bumper used with the lip, if someone hasnt already made claims to it.

anyway, please give some insight.
thx guys.

Front fascia (bumper cover) will bolt right on but it does hang noticably lower than the base model.
You should consider side skirts as well if you want to go that route.

Not sure how much more work it is to get the fog lights in and working though.....

I'm pretty sure you have to adjust the wheel well lining because it's too short for the SS facia.

You need to purchase the wheel well lining for the SS if you want it to look right...as far as I know the holes don't line up and it's too short. Locally there is a LT sedan in ultra silver that has just the SS/NA front fascia and it looks fine without the skirts or rear bumper cover.

I was contemplating doing this, but I don't know that I will....would only consider it if my bumper becomes severely scratched up and I can find one that doesn't have a license plate bracket.

Eh well lining doesnt really matter, you can get each side for about $30 at the dealer if you really wanted to go that route or do like I did with my old body kit and take a dremel to them. To answer your question it is a direct bolt on but bumper facias can warp very easily so if they were not stored properly they will be stupid looking. My stock rear was warped when i decided to put it back on so I let it sit in sunlight for a few days on a flat piece of concrete until it went back to the original shape.

i plan on getting the whole kit at one point...but with my money situation it'll have to come piece by piece. im sure it wont look super retarded for the time being with just the front bumper. its like having a lip on any other car w/o skirts.

The wheel wells are all the same, you just need to purchase the lower brackets. However the rear wheel wells are diffenerent

The bumper hangs slightly over 2 inches lower than the LT one, it looks very out of place. And this question (can i put on a ss bumper) has been asked about 2 million times on this site, maybe you should search next time. Im not trying to be a jerk, you could just find the info you need without making a thread.

^ Thanks for clarifying. I knew one of the wheel well liners didn't work right...thought it was the front, but oh well. Sorry for posting mis-information.

uhmm the wheel wells on the SS and the SS/NA sit like 2 inches lower...
if you change your bumper out you will have about a 2- 2.5 inch gap at the botton of your wheel wells

^^That's correct, there are brackets that fill in the wheel well and make the front fascia fit correctly on the LS/LT models.

Shot of bracket under the fascia:

While it is true the SS fascia is about 2" lower than the LS fascia you can break up the appearance by installing the mud guards too.
