Front License Plate Bracket: It needs to go

Hey guys, this is probably a really dumb question and I'm pretty sure I already know the answer... I have the front license plate bracket thing on the front of my car from when the dealership put it on. There are the three little screws and I assume they're into the bumper and it's gonna look messed up if I took it off.
Has anyone taken theirs off? And how's it look after you did?

well mine wasnt on the car but i have seen cars that people have takin them off of before (not the cobalts in general) and it just leaves small holes in the bumper.. you could just fill in the hole with some bondo or some other body filler and get some touch up paint to smooth it out like it was never there.. other than that you just gonna be stuck with the plate braket or holes in the bumper.. depending on the color of your car will make the difference on how noticable the holes are.. if its a dark color then they aint really noticable..

Okay cool, I'll check out the "how-to's" to see if I can find it. My car's black so hopefully it'd be a little less noticeable than other colors

2FST4U - Isn't having the license plate in there messing up your air-flow/cooling? Idk, just wondering. Also, where'd you get that grille? Looks pretty sweet.

your in for some heartache. I had the bracket on mine. stock from the factory the bumper comes with dimples to let dealers know where to install it. after the put it on youl have three holes in the shape of a triangle. I had mine removed and the holes patched. Problem is, the bumper is urethane and its almost impossible to get anything to adhere to it...they can patch the holes, but theyl have a hard time getting paint to adhere. they fixed mine and i think only one of the holes came out perfect...the other 2 bubled but you cant really tell.

They must have done a half assed job. There are products out there specifically made to patch urethane and with proper prep and paint, it should last a lifetime.

take it back

They are not screws, they are rivets so you will have to drill them out just like 2fst4u said. Mine was never put on by the dealership and I think the car looks better without but the cops will be after you. trust me I have been pulled over for it.

I havent noticed any air flow problems. I made the grille myself for $25! I put the plate down there so cops wouldnt pull me over, havent had trouble yet. I also used a redish color silicone to fill the holes

Doesn't that kill your airflow though?
And what did you make the grille out of? Chicken wire?

hurrah for front license plates not being required here! there is just 3 little dimples where they would drill if they were to put it on.

Ditto. My dealership didn't put the bracket on mine and it's staying that way.
