i like the G5 grill is it possible to put one on my SS and take out the pontiac sign? has anyone done that?

 

iv seen the rear done like the g5 but not the front...i have a g5 grille im selling but not the painted part that goes on top of it.

 

i have been wanting to do this. just need to find a g5 grill

 

i think you would have to change the entire bumper bc the crossbar is part of the cobalt bumper

HeathKidder - i think your front looks so good. i have heard and seen a picture of an actual G5 GT bumper and the bar was cut off from factory so it seemed like the bumper came from the cobalt they just modified it to fit the painted pontiac grill.

can someone confirm that?

 

I'm pretty sure all GM did was cut the cross bar out. A lot of the G5 guys said it looks like there used to be a bar there and it was just cut out. The G5 grill would cover all of the parts you would have to cut.

 

The bumpers might look the same but yes there is no crossbar on the g5 bumpers so you would have to cut out a bit to make it fit

 

my car is all black and my rims are black too, i think it would look good and different, the only reason wy i dont like the G5 back bumper is because of the reverse lights... seems a bit lazy on design.

 

They were obviously paying homage to the Sunfire location...



I personally think it's fine the way it is...



I'm not sure why they decided to turn them sideways, it'd look a lot more tidy if they were vertical and tight to the plate. IMO if they wanted to turn them sideways they should have split them way out wide like the new Camaro.



As for the OP... cutting out the center bar and putting in a G5 grill is a breeze compared to swapping the rear.

 

yep cut out the cross bar and when u put in the g5 grille u wont even see it.

i have the actual kidney part/black part of the grill you would just need to the the part thats painted and has the pontiac emblem you can easily take it off and put an ss or w.e u wanted and to do it you would just need to cut out ur cross bar. just pm me and ill help you out
