Well, I orderd this one from QMI. Stainless Steel COVER for Cobalt. Uses double back tape. Only $15. We'll see. My car is RED, so it should look like this. I'll post pic of it on.

The only way that *might* look good is if it were color matched.

 

I have the carbon insert one on my car, I think it looks nice, don't care what others think really.

i have the chrome one on my black balt SS. i think it looks great. kinda gives it the old 60s/70s feel with the raised gas cap. Its actually metal too. thicker than the stock gas cover. it replaces the whole hinged assembly. not just a cover. so its no goin to fall off either

did it really add stars to the first three letters of assembly?

 

Could ya post a pic?....also how do you replace? Looks like you go through the trunk?

Let me do a mock up and I'll post it here. Take a look and give me feedback.
I have no chrome on my car..this will be the only thing. It's a RED car, so it may look pretty good.

Why? It's painted.

 

No, that's the point. It's the one chrome looking thing on the entire car, floating in space in the middle of the quarter. There's nothing to offset it and no symmetry.

 

NCC-2000's car has chrome wheels and door handles, it has a better flow to the chrome cover.

I understand that...but it's a *statement* thing and the asymmetry is part of it. There are two factors that could make this work..1) RED is the best color for the chrome cap...2) the Cap is relatively small and perfectly round. We'll see. I'll post the mock up..no harm done.

Here..use your imaginaton. Put a chrome cap on. I have Victory Red like this car. It's debadged in back and has black *SS* inlays. Side markers are also blacked out:

Nope. Don't like. I have the identical car to you except for the inlays, by the way.

I don't love it on the Challenger, but the Challenger has big, visible chrome exhaust, chrome lettering on the hood, and the gas cap is that, a cap that is inset into the fender. We have a fuel door that's flush to the body and you're debadged, removing chrome. A chrome cover on the gas door would be out of place.

Here's a deal. Move on to something else and I'll stop picking on you for being older than me.

this door is quality chrome. ill take pics from the outside and with the door open showing it off. it doesnt just stick on with 3M. def not a cheap Pepboy door

Well..the car looks very *sedate* from the rear end. The plate is actually polished stainless steel not chrome.
I HAVE A SURPRISE TOUCH I'M ADDING. I'll post the mock up here for all to see. I did a search here.... It's amazing how many find this mod distasteful! I see the point as made above though. I'm not into the *bling thing* at all. The added touch I'm putting on will tone that effect down. Stay tuned folks.
