Gauges
I'm seen a few conflicting pictures of the gauges for the Cobalt SS. Are they going to be white faced or black? Are there any pictures?
Thanks!

On the chevy site it shows the gauges having a white face with a black center. So who knows.

I believe there are a few types of gauges depending on the options you get with the car.
SS comes standard with:
Instrumentation, analog titanium-faced gauges: includes speedometer, temperature, fuel, tachometer, trip odometer, boost gauge and Driver Information Center.
Those are white faced if you look at the GM provided picture for that feature. GM basically lists 3 guage packages:
1) SS titanium (white faced)
2) Sport (white faced) (LS models only)
3) Standard (Just speculation cause GM doesn't list a picture for the standard guage package.)

i hate to break it to everybody but i emailed GM and they said that the cluster does not have a temp guage. what they mistakenly meant was that in the driver info center has an outside temp mode so you know how warm it is outside. I had my hopes up too.

My '95 Metro has a temp gauge, you'd think a $25000 supercharged vehicle would have one too... I think they should have an option for a set of gauges in the center console with engine temp, voltage and torque
I'd pay $250 for that option...

That sucks. I want oil pressure, coolant temp and amperage gauges... I hate idiot lights. I guess I'll have to find some nice aftermarket ones. LOL at least they remembered to include a tach .

I'm really not liking the lack of a temp gauge. every vehicle my family has ever owned had a temp gauge.... a car of this type should have one, along with oil pressure on the ss.

it does kinda have a temp guage... its in the DIC...
Driver Information Center
This built-in computer includes travel calculations, time and temperature, 15 warning messages, and personalization settings. It tracks information like average speed, oil life, coolant temperature, outside temperature, fuel range and mileage for two different trips.

Must be like the DIC in the Malibu. The one in the Mali displays coolant temp and oil pressure. Pretty cool actually seeing the readout instead of a general level on a guage. The one on the Mali is probably more comprehensive, and the screen is definitely bigger and has two lines of data. I like that design, and I imagine it'll be in the G6 too, which is a good thing.

the malibu's is in the radio, and it doesn't show any engine functions, just oil life, instant and average mpg, range and average speed... it would be nice tho, if they could throw in oil temp and pressure, volts, and boost since they have the ability... i was in a regal that showed boost and a few other things in its dic, so they can do it...

the redline, like my regular ION, has a temp gauge, fuel gauge, speedo and tach. The driver message center allows you to change the language shown, and it shows you oil life, not oil temp. It also shows you the trip odometer. Thats about all.
Aside form the regular readouts, it shows you messages like Low Fuel, Check engine, etc.

If you guys didn't know already, The Cobalt SS supercharged and the other cobalt trims as well, will have a temp gauge. From the Chevy site, for the SS supercharged:
"Instrumentation, analog titanium-faced gauges: includes speedometer, temperature, fuel, tachometer, trip odometer, boost gauge and Driver Information Center"
And I think that fuel, speedo, and engine temp are standard on every car (even the cheapest ones) produced by GM.
