good god my antenna...

so i went to do a simple short antenna mod, consists of unscrewing the antenna, cutting it and putting it back on. When i went to unscrew it i realized the whole antenna assembly was spinning in my car. so i get in the trunk, pull some panels back and realize that my antenna holding plate is mangled to the point that holding the antenna was a impossibility. after some mild bending and hammering i got the ANT to fit back into it and im now waiting to put it back in my car, the other half of this catastrophe is that i chowed the hell out of the bottom of my antenna and the boot/scussion thingy around the bottom of it, i have silicone drying on it right now to fill in the plier marks then im gonna paint it. im pretty sure i should have just left the antenna alone after all this, and i hope this doesnt happen to anyone else. just wanted to give a heads up

This EXACT same thing happened when I went to chop my antenna. I wasn't even yanking on it or being rough, and the whole thing just popped out and loosened.

I am under warranty, so when I took the car in I just told them the truth. I tried loosening my antenna, it spun, and somehow it got messed up. They warrantied it and put a new antenna assembly and antenna on my car. If it's wobbling, and your going in for any warranty work - give it a shot. They fixed my free of charge, no questions asked.
