I might get a base cobalt a-pillar and try something with that. I think they made these pillar pods for the pillars in the cobalts without a gauge already present.

 

When i got my autometer tripple gauge pod for my 91 civic the stock a piller peice was supposed to stay on as well, but i had to cut parts out around the 3 gauge spots beucase the backs of the gauges would hit the old piiler peice

mabye same thing, and i wouldnt want to ruin the stock guage moiunt, i would be thinking of getting an LT non gauge piller pod to be cutting holes in it

so your trying to fit a pillar that wasn't designed to go over a pillar that has side airbags. I bet it will fit with balts with no side airbags (thank god i didn't get them). I understand that the airbags are above the pillar but it doesn't matter I guess..

That sucks that they are painted black... guess I will have to have the dealer color match it.

Now, you guys are saying, these are to fit over an existing pillar, but I guess with our stock SS/SC pillar with the boost gauge they won't. Will they fit if you completely remove and replace the pillar with the autometer one, or do you have to buy an LS pillar and fit the Autometer over that?

this kinda upsets me that its not a full replacemnt pod, i guess ill make my final judgment when i see them installed from a few different angles

i did take out the stock pillar and the autometer one fit in its place. i might also consider fabricating something so the autometer will clip into the stock clip points. the top has a screw hole to take a long screw and screw it into the stock hole. perferably a countersunk screw since the hole they put is a countersunk hole. I want to get the autometer pod clipped into the stock points for safety reasons as well. I will look at it more tomorrow and see if just trimming the stock pillar will make enough room to put this one over the stock pillar, but i doubt it will fit around where the stock pillar goes into the dash at the bottom. I will take lots more pics tomorrow as well.

ive put mine in. i just need a longer screw to put in there. but it will fit over the stock pillar. Autometer told me to decrease teh size of the gold rods on the back of the gauge for clearance. Its either longer screw and no stock pillar pod or stock pillar pod and sawing down the gold rods. thats the options. u say its crap but the install process is crap. it looks dang good

 

so, are you saying its easily possible to use the autometer pod only with no base pod behind it? if so then thats cool then ans i will buy one but id like some pics first of it installed that way.

u have to decrease the size in the gold rods on the back of the gauge for it to mtch up to the stock pod. if u dont want to then buy a longer screw thant he stock pod one because the stock screw is not long enough for the Autometer pod. Its not intended to go on without stock pod. but mine is like that and im happy. just dont put a silver or gold screw in there. .... i am just going to match mine up to my stock pod.
