head light?s

ok so i'm painting my head lights, took them apart and all that. the question are,

what kind of paint did those that painted the housings use?

did you sand off all the crome first or just paint them?

what did you use to reseal them?

thanks

painters tape?!

I don't know this would work for the level of chrome used on the headlights, but on plastic model kits you can use spray oven cleaner to remove chrome.
IF you try this be sure to read precautions on the can and wear rubber gloves. rinse with water

oven cleaner, really? do i just spry it on and let it sit for a few mins, then wipe it off? i might give that a try cause sanding off all that crome is a pain in the ass.

I guess I would recommend using a toothbrush near any part you want to leave chrome, and could spray away from those areas. let sit for approx 15 minutes rinse off with water. redo as necesary, if it works.

I never tryed this method on actual auto chrome.

btw i don't think you would need to remove the chrome entirely, just enough, and rough the surface to apply the paint. The process to pros use for chrome was in a HOTROD mag I seen, they will chrome an entire part tape off chrome and paint the part.
