Headlight Restoration

Is there anyway to restore headlights without using sandpaper. I've never used it before and dont really want to start. One of my headlights is starting to turn cloudy.

Thanks in advance

Rain X headlight restoration kit. (headlights will look brand new.)

I still suggest using a 2000 grit sand paper before using the rain X headlight restoration kit. Sand evenly in a X pattern and then a + pattern. Using detergent and water mixed in a spray bottle for wet sanding (highly recommended).

Just spray the headlight and start sanding, remember to keep spraying the headlight and keep it wet along with the sandpaper. You can get 2000 grit from Autozone. If your headlights are really yellow and bad use 1500 followed by 2000 grit.

If your headlights arent that bad at all but you want better clarity start with the headlight restoration kit and forgo the sanding all together.

Make sure to take the headlight off before using the kit or sanding. You WILL scratch your bumper, lol. I dont care how careful you are.

Thx Joe, I'll use the Rain X first b/c the "cloudiness" is very very light.

Anything I can apply to the headlights to keep this from happening?

Well, just wax them when you wax the car. You can even clay bar them (and your windshield, btw) to pull contaminants off. If the cloudiness doesn't go away with the RainX, try the 3M kit. It's $20, but it will take a TORE up headlight and make it brand new.

I used the meguiar's headlight resto kit ($25)

you apply a plastic restoration compound on a buffing bad they give you and hook it up to your portable drill.

worked well for only a liquid compound!

Just be sure to mask off your bumper and hood. I did the meguiar's treatment to my grandparents chrysler and they now have a bare spot of paint on their bumper. That **** eats through paint quicker than a fat chick at ponderosa.
