Headlights

I'm sure some of you are TIRED of answering headlight questions but pweeeeez help me

I've read all this garbage and now my vision is blurry and i guess i'm still confused, but was wondering...

I want some Halo projectors, the 3rd gen's i guess. idk... i wanna see pics of the different kinds side by side before i buy tho...

With these projectors, are they considered HID? or do you have to buy the kit and install it? and can the same bulbs be used for HID? How much brighter are HID's than say a regular set of 1st 2nd or 3rd gen projectors installed?

reason i wanna know is cuz my driverside headlight is fogging up and the dealers won't replace it and i was plannin on buying new headlights anyways and i'm tired of looking at an ugly fogged up light lol

Projectors come with halogen projector bulbs, like your fogs. HID"s are separate. HID's are way brighter... there is no comparison.

so like the 3rd gen halo projectos... the projector lights are what is HID? so they don't come with them...
is that why there is a list of the different size lights one would need? and does the H infront of those numbers mean they are HID? lol? sorry i'm tarded bout headlights

i guess i'm confused also about the kit...

is the HID kit only for like your regular headlights?
if i was to buy these 3rd gens, could i get the HID bulbs for them without a kit? blah i'm lost?

projector headlights come with just normal yellow stock color bulbs

you can get hid's which is high-intensity discharge bulbs which are better and brighter than the stock bulbs that come with these projectors. thats what the majority of people who buy projectors get because stock bulbs that come with the projectors just suck.

im not sure what the H stands for haha

and hids are sold in kits. which includes the bulb the ballast and the wires to ground it for the power and all that

hope this helps

Alright hopefully this will help...

Projectors are just the type of housing for your headlights. Stock headlights on our cars are called "reflector housings" because they have a shiny dish inside that reflects the light from the halogen bulb forward.

Projector housings have a lens inside them (like a magnifying glass) that is used to project the light forward. The projector lens also has a 'cutoff' that prevents light from shining up into peoples eyes. For example, if you have reflector housings and you park your car in front of a wall the light pattern will be light that of a flashlight (circular-ish).
If you have projector housings and do the same, it will look like a semicircle with the flat side at the top.

If you buy projector housings, they will come with halogen bulbs in them. If you want HID bulbs (which are WAAAAAY brighter.)You will have to buy an HID conversion kit which includes:
2 HID bulbs
2 Ballasts (one for each headlight)
Usually mounting hardware
Wire harness

I highly recommend ordering a relay harness with your kit, because it draws power for your lights directly from the car battery instead of through your factory wires. If you dont do this, the voltage may not be steady enough to allow your HID bulbs to light up. HIDs take a large amount of current to light up initially, then take a very small amount to stay lit up.

EDIT: Also remember that the bulb size is different in each type of headlight housing as well. Your stock lights use 9007 bulbs because they use one bulb that has two filaments in it. One for high, one for low.
3rd Gens use H1 bulbs for low beams (that's the one you want HIDs for) and a separate bulb for high beams. Dont bother replacing the high beam bulb. It's fine.

ok... so, id have to buy a kit with the wiring and stuff... that's what i was wondering... i was thinking that you could just hook them up and they "go" lol. what's a ballast?

i was mostly wondering about the "kit"

now how much are kits? does any1 know off the top of their head? and will all the kits come with bulbs and stuff? are their different kits for different set ups? and where do i get a relay harness?

i saw something called an HID kit for like 200 dollars, for that price would it have bulbs with it?

thanks so much for the info

btw, i think i want the 3rd gen, what would you guys prefer? and how much did you pay all together? if u don't mind me askin

and i guess 6000k bulbs look the best... i wanna light blue but not dark... when you buy kits do you have the option for what bulb you want with it or are the bulbs sold separately?

oh... and what about for the foglights, where can i find a kit thingy for those? is it worth the trouble? do they have to be ran separately in a harness or do they tie in somehow?

oowah >> do you have a black ss with those 3rd gen 6000k? could u post a pic of them on and stuff? if its not a problem that is.

Foglights are a good improvement too. I'd recomend doing it if you've got the cash.
Kits include bulbs. I'd go with 6000k.

I bought my 3rd gens used. Hid kit for my fogs was $125 CAD shipped from vvme.com
slim ballasts make for any easier install (that's what I got)

ballasts are like power supplies for your bulbs.

Fogs require another kit and another relay harness. Fogs are H11.
I am aiming mine properly tonight, so I'll take pics later and post up tomorrow night.
