Headlights

Hey guys
I am in the middle of my retrofit and am getting ready to paint the housings black and I was wondering if it was OK to paint the circle reflector where the turn signal bulb goes l. I hardly ever see anyone paint theirs black but I wanted to do it because I don't like the chrome look. Also I will be using LED turn signals not halogen.

Thanks for any info

The reflector bowl? Yes, all the light gets pushed forward so you don't use it with projectors

Mine are black

They throw plenty of light day or night to see the turn signals, day or night. My pictures suck, but they're painted satin black. I thought flat was too dry looking and gloss to shiny.

Joe's are also painted. His are grey. There are tons of pictures of his car on the forums, look at his FCOTM thread for a look at them.

People do it, but I still wouldn't. I prefer my turn signal to be as visible as possible. I don't want "I couldn't see your turn signal" to be an excuse by another driver in case of an accident.

i get where Tommy is coming from, but i think it lights up just fine, there is nothing in front of the bulb blocking the direct light, like a factory halogen Headlamp.

Mine are Black, keep in mind i Sprayed the Shrouds Black Chrome, so yours won;t bee so dark inside around the Projector

I don't know how you look at that picture of Joe's car and say that you couldn't see the turn signal.

Thanks guys I decided to not paint the reflector bowl just because I have been in accident situations where people tried saying my "mods" caused them. I didn't even think about that thanks

Only mod I have seen cause a traffic accident was a Honda wing hitting a truck when they where (racing)

As for headlights you won't pass inspection if the reflectors are painted ( in my state atleast). I keep a set of stockers for that reason
