from every single post I've ever seen on the subject, painting your headlight housing will not alter light output.

Just don't paint the turn signal area (the bowl of rectangles). The ribbed area is for her pleasure....er,... I mean it won't be effected at all. When you remove the bezel, the reflector for the hi/lo beam is a separate part

scuff them up somehow. Dont have to do anything rediculously crazy as they wont see wear and tear. nothing will ever touch the insides again after there painted. But as a general rule yes scuff them up. Use a scotch bright, or if you want the back of a sponge that green part will suffice for this. Idealy if you have any adhesion promoter spray it since its a plastic part but like i said before it shouldnt really matter. theyll never bend or flex or see sponges and soap or rocks or anything. And paint gloss black. Matt black looks like plastic, make it look better then that

thanks bud! and good luck, its easy youll do fine. when you spray make sure your 1st coat is a fine mist. dont try to cover it on the 1st coat, i will gaurantee a fish eye.

Is putting them in the oven to soften the epoxy that holds the lens on?

no, the only aftermarket lights I would touch are gen 4's and paint the chrome bezel for the projector and high beam shroud.

I wouldn't even bother with gn 1's. too much bitch work.
