Heater control question

Hey guys. I'm in the process of cleaning up my interior a little bit. I'm changing the stock, 3-tone red, black, and silver to just red and black. The stock head unit is going to be ordered in a few days and over christmas break I'll be painting the silver dash trim piano black. That just leaves the heater controls. I've found plenty of black ones on ebay for a decent price, but one seller mentioned that the control aren't just plug and play. You have to take the car to the dealership to have it programmed to the car. Does anyone know if this is true?

Pretty sure the controls are plug in play but the radio is not.

Plug and play. I bought a spare one and had the LED swap done.
