Help! HID's & DRL's??

I've been looking all over this site and I still haven't found the answer that I'm looking for. I want to install HIDs on my car, but what happens to the Daytime Running Lights? I really would still like to have them for my car. I've been told to look into a high and low beam plug & play package. Please help! Thanks a lot.

I'm assuming your car is 07 or newer?

Ok, I found this thread... seems to be as easy as pulling the DRL fuse...

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...ht=DRL+disable

Edit: 07+ can't run HID's and DRL's (because the low beam is the DRL)
Well you might be able to but it sounds like it'll kill the ballast.

Thanks. I read it, but it still doesn't seem to answer it because I still would like to keep my DRL. Hmm...

What about switching the wiring and letting them run on my high beams?

you could change the wiring around if you really wanted to, you would have to switch the orange and pink wires around , orange is low and pink is high if memory serves my correct

If you wire in your HIDs with a relay you want have to do anything to the car, the low beams will come on when the DRLs do. If you dont want to do that you can get the dual beam HID bulbs and just wire them in backwards(so the little bulb is the low beam) then youll have the little bulb for DRL and low beams and your HID for high beams

So with the relay I can keep my DRLs and the HIDs will come on with the headlights? And I was thinking about getting the HIDs with high and low beams already, that's the one you're talking about? I know I'm a little slow with all of this stuff, my boyfriend is the one who knows more but he's not sure what to do with the DRLs.

Yeah, I pulled the fuse (mine's an '07), and my Headlights only come on when it's dark out, like normal auto headlights - just without them being on all the time...

Might want to have a look at the wiring diagram before you go down that road, I expect the changes would be rather extensive.

If you can do it though, I see no reason the auto lights would not continue to work just fine.

so if u use a relay harness u can just keep the drl fuse in? it will just turn on the low beams? thats what it seems to be on my car. i should check with a volt meter to make sure though.
