Exclamation Help i have water in my flooring

i bought a 2007 chevrolet cobalt ss, and its pretty good but ive been working on it in the shop and i noticed both passenger and drivers side flooring was damp... so i pulled out the plastics then pulled back the carpet to see that it was completely soaked! i then looked in the back of the car to see that theres moisture on the flooring there too and a little
white mold growing... im not sure how this much water got in there get all the flooring underneath that wet. what could have caused this? and how do i fix it and then dry everything out?
