Exclamation HID ballasts keep breaking..

Alright so about 6 months ago, I bought a $120 HID kit.. They're 55 watts, 10k, hi/lo. I LOVE them, but have one major problem with them. The ballasts keep going out on me. What I've read online is that it's really bad to turn them on and off multiple times in a row. Well when I unlock my car with the remote, my high beams automatically turn on; as soon as I open the door, they turn off. And then when I start up my car, the lights come back on. Is there ANY way to make the lights not turn on when I unlock my car with the remote? Or is that even the problem?

i think it can be programmed through the DIC menu on your car, check your owners manual

Turn off illuminated entry or something like that, there's a bunch of settings in there, and they change depending if the car is running or not.

There should be a setting that says 'lights on unlock / lights on lock' or something to that nature.
I turned mine off once I got my hids.

Dude there's a way.. I just figured it out.
Turn on your car, just press and hold the info, reset, and the enter buttons all at once for one second. After letting go, scroll through, and find "ext lights" or something similar to it. Just set it to "off", and it's good to go!

Ive been running te same hid kit for well over a year now with the unlock lights in and I've never had an issue. Do you have a relay harness, and did you disable your drls?

I've been running my HID's for over 2.5 years now, with the unlock lights. Never had a blown ballast. I have a relay harness, plugged everything up and that was it.

Pull your drl fuse, see if that helps. Usually it kills bulbs, but it may be hurting your ballasts too. Also the turning them off and on issue only hurts bulbs, not ballasts.

So does our cars cycle the voltage for the DRL to achieve the 6V (i.e. a square wave with upper limit of +12V and lower limit of 0V) or does it supply +6V DC?
