HID installs in projector help

has Anyone installed the HIDs in the projector housings? I picked up the 8000K bulb kit from vision. On their website they recommend connecting the relay harness to the battery. Since the battery is in the trunk on these cars, how is this accomplished?

Also does anyone know if you have to re-aim the headlights after installing the HIDs if the projectors were aimed properly with stock H1's that come with it.

Heres a How-To on aiming the projectors, if you go down to post #4 there is a pretty good pic showing the screws that make the adjustments and which way to turn them. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/1st-gen-projector-aiming-44181/

and heres a vid to help you understand the relay wiring.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbJxdhaWJnk
Your battery is wired all the way to your engine bay in the form of your "boost terminal" which is hidden under a red cap on your fuse box.
its a perfect place to wire your relay. it takes some elbow grease to crack it loose, but it will loosen, then you can just slip your connector in there and tighten and voila.

OK, anyone have a definitive answer on which wires are supposed to be spliced?

the main headlight harnes.. cut the connector off that goes to the stock headligh bulb (not the harness from the car to the headlight, but the one that goes to the back of the light.
black to black./.. white to orange... and you are done (you don't have a high low kit right?

If anything I"ll take pics of my setup when I get home tonight (HID headlights and fogs)

hes right.
imagine that like your "switch"
you wire that into the power/ground of your old lowbeam headlight wires.

by doing that, when your car turns its lowbeams on, your relay recieves a signal, telling it to allow your HIDs to begin drawing power through the larger gauge wires that you have wired to your battery power

Thats cool, I'm not going to get to work on the lights again until sunday. Hoping I will find enough answers by then to complete the install.

OK, you guys were right, the install was pretty simple, splice orange to red and black to black, and relay is all set to go. Now I have an aiming problem, There is a hugh black spot in the middle, seems as though the focus of the bulbs is off, only way to get rid of the void is to aim the projectors way too high. Anyone else have this issue or any information.
left beam

right beam

both (yes i know they are not even)

the void

I also have a problem with mine... I only have 1 beam hitting the road. I posted a thread on it in the problems/service section. That black hole seems like the way it would be stock...--- except AMPLIFIED! That's all I know.

I don't believe so, If you look at the photos i posted on page one of this thread you will notice the little "z" at the top of the cutoff of the beam. That z is the center of the beam, which is clearly aimed directly in front of my car. On a side note, my passanger side is aimed a bit too high, the z's should be on an even plane.

I have this problem as well. I thought they were pointed too far to the left and right, and pointed them in, and it didn't help. IMO the projector lenses simply aren't set up to handle HID, maybe the length of the HID bulb vs. the stock bulb, or maybe just more light output. If someone has a solution I would be elated.

If you didnt modify your projector housing to fit the HID Return lead. dont be surprised if your HIDs dont work worth a ****.

You have to make room for that return lead or it doesnt allow the bulb to sit straight in the housing, and therefore gives you a **** light pattern.

an0malous - you are correct, Yes the bulbs fit without modification, however the beam pattern blows. I just did my drilling today see blurry photo below (only drilled about 1 to 2 mm), We'll see what happens tonight, I'll post before and after pictures sometime early next week.

Not sure why you had to mod the slot is sitting right there waiting for the lead. The bulb sits straight so that's not the reason for the crappy beam pattern.

I thought there was a way to do it without cutting any wires.
