Hid projector questions

I'm getting the following projectors for my 2007 cobalt ss/sc
SPYDERŪ - Chevy Cobalt 2005-2009 Black CCFL Halo Projector Headlights with LEDs

If I get these projectors I will also get an HID kit.

I want to know what size of bulb to get and if HID would even fit in those projectors?

Any help is appreciated

i dont think so

zgonce2000 12-14-2012 10:49 PM

you need an H1 kit (H1 is the bulb type) from there on out you can pick 6k-12k hid kit you want and such!

Do you need the dual beam or is the highbeam and lowbeam seperate?

mexi_loco 12-16-2012 12:53 PM

don't get those cheap ass ebay lights. You'll get what you'll pay for.

chevygirl2006 12-16-2012 12:54 PM

It's the same lights though. Just different sellers

mexi_loco 12-16-2012 12:56 PM

no they're not. They're different companies. The ebay ones are made with cheap components and are often sealed incorrectly. Leaks, burnt out halos or led's, busted battery packs are just a few common things with ebay lights.

inb4 "get retros"

Just a single beam H1 hid kit. High beam and low beam are separate (low beam projector, high beam reflector)

Maybe that's why mine suck.

I guess so?

Retrofitting them yourself is not hard and not expensive for the parts. The only thing intimidating about the retrofit process is baking your headlights so the lens comes off and hope to God it reseals properly. You also have to do some trimming with Dremal, such as the 9007 bulb holder and you have to sand down the alignment tabs on the inside and where the projector bowl meets up with the reflector. You can spend a little more money on EvoX-Rs or FX-Rs or a nice set of OEM projectors and use the more advanced method to mount those.

If some of you can afford to tune your suspension, upgrade your intake and exhaust, buy low profile rims and tires, install a high end stereo system, then you can afford to do a retrofit.

CARID is not a good company at all. You can search them up with the BBB. Now if you wanna get these lights, and I personally like them a lot and recommend them, get them from JM Auto Racing. Good company and they work with you very well and can answer your questions.

Here is a link to their site with all option available to you. CCFL Headlights 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt - Aftermarket car accessories, truck accessories, and performance auto parts - JM Auto Racing

You can get the base one or get one with HID's. Turn Signal will be the standard 3157 Bulb and the low and high beams will be separate H1 bulbs. You will have to use your sock headlight wiring for these to work though!

The CCFL rings and LED's will not come pre-wired, so you will have to wire them up yourself. Nice thing about that is that you can choose how you want to wire it (i.e. with your turn signal main power or to another switch in the cabin, etc.)

HID's are plug and play if you get the one with the HID kit. Easy and simple to install as well.

I have a full how-to wirtten up from when I did my install. Might be a good idea to look at it to make sure this is really the route you wanna go:

Red Devil 07 also did a similar write up on this too, same headlights just black: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-...lights-169951/

Feel free to PM with questions and I can take more pics of the setup if you want as well.
