HID relays
HID relays
Has anyone on here installed the relay that comes with their HID conversion kits? Im just wondering how you went to doing this, since our battery is located in the trunk.
From the relay you should have two base dongles, one goes to 12volt power/ground the other one heads off to the ballasts, but not before spliting into four Each Ballast has two connections on it, ones goes directly to the headlight , the other goes to the relay. Now you should have two connections left and if your kit was like mine , two more strings of wire that are seperate from the rest. Some kits have this piece integrated intro the harness others have it so you have to do it yourself. In anycase this goes to the plug that would have normally pluged into the back of the headlight, and if its not connected to the relay already then it it should.
I have no dangling taped off wire in mine, everything has been connected, and no I don't highbeams.
As for the power and ground, the ground should go one of the bolts on the strut tower,(the one thats marked ground) be sure to sand/scrape the paint away for a better ground. Power- well if put the cap on over the o-ring worked for you guys, stick with it. but there are a few problems with that, loose connection cause flicker, flicker is a momentary loss of power, when they connect again it sends a surge through the system that could or should I say one day will fry the whole thing. If you take the fuse box cover off you will see that that post goes all the way down, I used a clamps from a fuel line but even a garden hose clamp will do, anything to make sure that the connection is tight. I know this goes without saying but I'll say it anyway, make sure you disconnect the Batt. before you do all this, BOTH terminals,
Its late right now but sometime in the next few hours I will get some pics of mine to show you

Mine came as a kit, Bulbs, ballasts, relays fuses and prewired for plug and play, its a philips 6000k kit, I think the same as on stock BMW's but I can't back that, so don't quote me. In anycase the look sick but are not blinding other drivers.
If you order them on line beware, the one I got was all written in some asian language, only english on it was the website, but the whole sit was not in english, thus no instructions, lucky for me they had pictures (lol)
