HID's WITHOUT Projectors

I'm installing HID's in my car, but am not going to go with projectors, just the stock set up. The only HID help I've been able to locate is only good for those with projectors. Anyway, anyone wanna give me some advice that has the stock headlights with HID's installed.

Thanks!

its dangerous to do this, it blinds uncoming traffic with the huge amount of glare the stock housing will make with the h.i.d's

Its all or nothing...there is no inbetween!
you should think about this quote from your sig....do it right or not at all

get 9007 HID's
they wont blind people, you just have to aim them
you could also get a set with HI/LO beams, but normal 9007's are only LO beams

I have the 9007's. A buddy of mine on this site has them on his car, and I've seen them at night, they aren't as bad as you all are saying...all I'm asking is for alittle help to install them.

people put hids in their stock housings all the time (projector or not). some of the time they suck and the rest of the time they are alright. you have to get a good set and not go too high in the Kelven (sp?) rating. i wouldnt recommend anything more than maybe 6000k so the you still have good light output. also, you have to aim them. you wont be able to stay with the same aiming that you have with the halogen bulbs for the hids.

i dont want to start trouble or whatnot but technically all aftermarket hid kits are illegal and for off-road use onlly whether in projector housings or not.

kelvin has nothing to do with glare.
aiming doesnt change glare. (unless you point them at the ground where you wont get any use from them)
the price, nor quality, of your kit has nothing to do with glare.

HID + Halogen Reflector housing = glare.
end of story.

get used to hearing it.
because many people...myself included....cant ******* STAND it when someones headlights cause a stabbing pain in the back of my retina in the DAYTIME from 500 yards away.

Do it properly. or dont do it at all.

no hes talking about glare... any hid in a stock (reflector housing) will glare... asking which one is better is like asking if you would rather get shot buy a 9mm or a .357 mag? one may be "better" but they will both ******* hurt

there are cars and trucks that come stock with HID's and no projectors, they don't blind me at all, just aim them down more that you would with halogens

btw the only difference between the 2 types is the housing and the bulb... the bulb for the stock hosuing was already mentioned so i dont know what more advice you want... All i can tell you is that it blinds the **** out of people and ive herd cops tend to get pissy when they get blinded (like stated b4 all non stock HIDs is illegal but projectors aimed properly dont blind people so cops tend to care less then getting blinded by reflector housing HIDs)

Who gives a **** if it blinds people mine dont when I stand at the front of my car and look at them......So the moral of the story is go and buy some HID's and who cares what other people think, if they dont like it then they can stop driving b/c stock cars come w/ HID kits all day even if they DONT have projectors so there is no way this can be "Illegal".................FLAME OVER

ive seen his in person and even seen them in my rear view and they never blinded me. As far as them having more glare than halogens, of course they do b/c they are brighter and maybe you guys just have sensitive eyes.

Nah your not getting it
there are VERY few vehicles on the road that use HIDs in reflectors PROPERLY.
because it takes special engineering and detail to use a reflector to control HID light.
generally its cheaper and more effective to use a projector....but it can be done in a reflector....but its NOT the same as your halogen one

the typical HALOGEN reflector....which you see in 95% of vehicles on the road....are NOT capable of controlling HID light properly.

they spray it everywhere....because they are set up with a different focal point....and control a different dispersion pattern than the shotgun blast that HID light puts out.

simple fact is.....if your reflectors are meant for halogens.....you will blind people if you use HID.

the difference between 4300 and 10000 will be color and light output.
4300 will be brighter, and white.
10000 will not be as bright...and blue/purple.

both will glare like a bastard.
